The importance of detoxifying our bodies, by Guadalupe Martín

  • 2011

The change of season invites to start a purifying and detoxifying diet, to live the spring, or the autumn with more vital energy and well-being.

Detoxification refers to intoxication. By one you learn the other.

The intoxication of the body includes the external intoxication caused by man by contaminating the environment with industrial processes and wastes, and by the food and pharmaceutical industry, and internal intoxication or autointoxication, a term used by Dr. Jensen, father of the Iridology, related to the formation of toxins or toxic substances that are generated within the body in one or several organs.

The absolute toxins, harmful even in minimal doses are the dyes, preservatives and flavorings used by the food industry. But there is also a wide range of substances in the gaseous state, which by inhalation behave as toxic, such as those derived from industrial activity or hydrocarbons, products of combustion of explosion engines. But against living in the city, little can be done, except to escape to the countryside on weekends!

Relative toxins are those that act by accumulation and overload, thus behaving in foods that contain scarce nutritional elements. Its repeated use creates a situation of nutritional deficiency.

The health of an individual depends on the ability of his body to eliminate harmful waste, both internally and externally.

The body has organs and systems responsible for cleaning impurities and organic waste; these are the liver, kidneys, skin and lungs, correlated with blood and lymph and the immune system

Residues from the food are expelled from the cells and pass to the lymph and blood that transport them to the excretory organs - especially to the liver and kidneys - where they are transformed and taken to the evacuation organs.

The function of the digestive system affects the production of different diseases when it is altered in its function (constipation, diarrhea, frequent infections, food waste, inflammations such as colitis, gastritis, etc.). Alterations are generated from this function of the different organs such as the kidneys, liver, lungs or the immune system, so it is necessary to clean or detoxify the body.

To purify the organism is to decrease its level of toxemia. This is done by reducing the toxins and helping the eliminating organs to perform their function, stimulating the elimination of toxins.

Natural food is the easiest means to eliminate toxins, clean the digestive system and blood, it is easy to assimilate and leaves no residue, organic functions improve its activity and the whole organism benefits.

The best diet is the one that contains foods rich in vitamins, which prevent the oxidative processes of free radicals: A, C, E and in purifying minerals such as selenium, magnesium and zinc.

The best foods to purify the body and neutralize excess waste:

Whole grains:

Cereals, especially whole grains, oats, wheat bran, corn, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flaxseed (flax), are excellent sources of fiber, provide complex carbohydrates and B vitamins, elements necessary for the proper functioning of the liver, protect the muscular and nervous system and have the function of drag, so they help clean the intestines and prevent the proliferation of germs and toxins if food residues remain.

Let's not forget that currently breads and derivatives are made from refined cereals, lacking many nutrients and fibers.

Take a good habit: find and buy a good whole wheat bread, if possible with seeds, take brown rice instead of white, and consume whole grain pasta from different cereals (rye macaroni is chocolate colored, and children love it! )

• Fruits:

They are rich in sugars of easy assimilation and antioxidant vitamins, they nourish and have the characteristic (by their components) of helping to discard the toxins accumulated in various organs of the body, in addition to promoting diuresis and the energy contribution to the cells, they help the exchange of nutrients by waste. They stand out:

• Grapes

• Pineapple

• Tunas

• Mango

• Watermelon

• Peach

• Pear

• Tamarind

• Loquat

• Apple

• Pear

• Papaya

• Plum

• Cherries

• Citrus fruits: lemons and oranges

Remember: the fruit is much more digestive and nutritious if we take it between meals, or before the meal. Choose those that are from the same group (acidic or sweet), do not take them instead of dinner, and take them in season.

• Vegetables:

They are important foods to nourish, they have the fiber that draws the food waste when mixed with them; minerals such as potassium, folates and trace elements important for the body and for ion exchange. They establish a good exchange between nutrition, purification and detoxification. It is recommended to choose organically grown vegetables so as not to ingest through these toxic substances or parasites. Within this food group are:

Tomatoes

Carrots

Garlic

Leeks

Onion

Artichokes

Radishes

Chicory, endive and endive

Eggplant

Beet

Turnips

Pumpkin

Br coli

Wakame and Kombu seaweed

And a long etcetera.

Did you know what ?: Not all vegetables are good for everyone? Some, such as green beans, asparagus or peas, are contraindicated in gouty processes, cystitis and renal weakness. Others, such as tomatoes, are not advised in arthritis, especially of the hands, etc.

Purifying plants :

Watercress

Dandelion

Burdock

Sarsaparilla

Guayac n

Walnut

Ver nica

Nettle

Birch

Barberry

Aloe Vera

Thought

Saponaria

Important: before taking medicinal plants, seek the advice of a professional. Like many medications, they can have adverse effects, especially if we take allopathic medication.

Legumes:

They are the super-food: full of proteins (which when complemented with whole grain form complete protein), slow digestion carbohydrates, fiber, minerals and vitamins, are indicated both in Summer as in winter, and in a depuration they can replace animal products (meat and fish), yes, you do not take more than 2 dishes a week. It's enough.

Liquids:

The water is mainly ingested to help carry out the dragging of toxins and eliminate them through urine, breathing and sweat or in special cases by mucous membranes. A minimum of two liters of water per day is required for the kidneys to do their job of cleaning and purifying excess substances from the blood well. Drinking water improves the skin, helps neutralize the toxins that trigger cellulite.

But be careful. Exaggerated intake can demineralize the body.

Infusions:

Chamomile relaxes abdominal muscles, peppermint helps regulate digestive transit and reduce acidity, and linden has calming effects on the central nervous system. Plantain, marrubium, bloodthirsty and Mu tea to regenerate blood. Boldo (with caution), dandelion, holy thistle, lemon verbena, verbena and rosemary for the liver.

Bet on fresh plant infusions. They have more medicinal properties. And better if you buy them in an herbalist. It guarantees that they are organically grown (without pesticides). In addition, many houses like Nova Diet have great combinations: for liver, kidney, nervous system, blood, etc.

  • Detoxifying fruit and vegetable juices:

• Pomegranate juice: purifies the blood.

• Lemon juice: cleanses the body.

• Cucumber juice: cleans the blood.

• Melon juice: purifies and refreshes the blood.

• Grape juice: liver and bile decongestant.

• Alfalfa juice: purifies the blood.

• Celery juice: stops toxins.

• Juice eliminates toxins: 3 carrots, 1/2 cucumber and 1/2 beet.

• Purifying juice: in equal parts watercress, chicory, fresh lettuce and smoke with honey bees.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

- Consume:

• If possible foods of biological origin.

• Fruits such as breakfast, lunch and / or dinner substitute (eye, only under professional supervision)

• Steamed, boiled or baked food using stainless steel utensils.

• Vegetable broths, daily, for the great diuretic and purifying power.

Drink filtered or bottled water.

- Maintain adequate external and internal hygiene.

- Perform a physical activity: walk as much as possible half an hour every day, do exercises that integrate body-mind-spirit.

- Sleep the hours necessary for sleep to be restful.

Nature through food, air, water, sun, minerals, vegetables, provides everything necessary and essential to maintain healthy bodies, within a hygienic and balanced environment.
