Soft, but very soft sound the bell,

According to Christian theology, a cherub is a type of angel, the second of the nine choirs or angelic hierarchies. They are considered the guardians of the glory of God. Its name means "fullness of knowledge" or "overflowing with wisdom." Their extreme intelligence allows them to know God as no human being can. They have a power superior to that of the evil angels and according to the Apocalypse their speed is like that of a lightning bolt.
The first level is composed of Seraphim, Cherubim and Thrones; the second is constituted by Domination, Virtues and Powers. The third and last consists of Principalities, Archangels and Angels.
The task of the Seraphim is to praise and sing to God, recreating himself in his infinite goodness and beauty. But it is the job of the cherubs to work for wisdom. These are ruled by the Archangel Saint Gabriel and are said to transmit cosmic energy.
Usually, they are grouped into the "Cherubim of the Foundation" and the "Cherubim of the Firmament." The latter usually guard sacred sites: planets, galaxies and their stellar orbits. The etymology of the name is Hebrew: "kerub" can be translated as "the one who intercedes" or "the knowledge / knowledge in itself."
Like every angel, they are incorporeal spiritual beings, of a nature essentially different from that of human beings. Although they sometimes manifest themselves by acquiring visible forms, they have no body, they are immortal and have a will.
While the seraphim are the greatest order within the celestial hierarchy - angels of light and love that surround the throne of God - the cherubs are guardians. They enjoy a "fullness of knowledge" and overflow with wisdom.
