The first social network designed for the third sector has just been born. Focax is called and its contents revolve around economic, social and environmental sustainability. It is a new digital tool at the service of people, groups and associations with solidarity and participatory awareness.
Simply type www.focax.com to enter this new space, which aims to become an alternative to large networks controlled by economic, media or pressure groups. Faced with this model, Focax is the result of the effort of a family business located in Alhaurín de la Torre (Málaga). Volunteers have also collaborated and the company Global Art Media (AGM), which has provided the platform with the necessary technology to have a range of applications that match the most popular social networks, including videos, chat and conference calls.
Focax is a web 2.0 that allows you to find and publish content, contact like-minded people, exchange ideas, make appeals and communicate quickly and easily. Ángel Zafra, one of the founders, highlights the great possibilities of this tool to boost social action and meet people with awareness: “The goal is to create a meeting and communication platform for the conscious community. Aware of the situation that humanity is living and the need to find an alternative to the social reality of the world ”.
Within the social network there is a very complete news section that covers a multitude of issues related to general news and the world of solidarity. For the most active people, the "Social Action" section is especially useful, from which you can access two sections, "Volunteering Projects" and "Actions", thus allowing you to get in touch with the campaigns and projects implemented by different groups and organizations. The user community is an essential part in the elaboration of these contents, which will be expanded soon with a section of initiatives. “In the future, websites of different initiatives within Focax can be created for free, ” explains Zafra.
One of the most curious applications is found in the "People" section. If you click there, it is possible to access a section called “Hospitality”, which allows anyone who intends to undertake a trip to contact other users who are willing to guide Tourist or even to offer food or their own houses as accommodation. Focax can also be used to get a job or enter the world of volunteering.
Finally, Focax gives the user the possibility of creating three identities with the same email account. "So you can have an identity to act on a professional level, another with a more ideological profile and a last for friends, family and acquaintances, " said Zafra, who announced that next A public campaign will be launched soon to publicize this new social network.
