First Mantrams Festival in Madrid

“What we are going to undertake together is an expedition, a journey of discovery to the most secret corners of our consciousness. Forget everything you know about yourself; Forget everything you've thought about you so far: we're going to leave as if we don't know anything ”(Krishnamurti)

For the first time a festival dedicated to meditative or spiritual music is celebrated in Madrid. After the success achieved by this type of festival in the main auditoriums of the world, a different way of attending a music concert arrives in our country. The Mantras festival is celebrated in collaboration with the House of Asia, National Radio of Spain and several foundations. The concerts will take place at the Fernán Gomez Theater in Madrid on Saturday 25 and Sunday next April and Tuesday May 5 at the New Lara Theater.

For this first edition we will have the impressive voice of Yungchen Lhamo coming from the heart of Tibet. His voice is so moving that he sometimes goes to sing in prisons, hospitals and other conflict zones. From Vrindavan, one of the sacred cities of India arrives Sri Venugopal Goswami representing a tradition of vocal music of more than 500 years that leads those who listen to it in ecstasy. And from Germany Prem Joshua has become one of the gurus of this musical style. His compositions can be heard in all herbalists or yoga centers in the world. In future editions we will invite writers and filmmakers who with their theses are revolutionizing the world and discovering a new sensibility that although it seemed hidden has always been among us.

Thousands of years ago music had a very different function. There were no success lists or best sellers. The music was among us and accompanied us in the most important moments of our life. Music was the means to express emotions
because it is present in the hearts of men and women, because it exists in the wind and in the waves, in the song of the birds and in the rivers. As yoga teacher Sivananda says music exists in all things if you have ears to listen to it. Music can move
mountains, enchant a snake or cure a disease. Music comforts, calms and cheers people when they are afflicted. Comfort the loner. It makes you forget the world. The human being still needs music to relax and elevate him and some cultures
more than others preserve this tradition. Every day, sometimes at dawn, other times at the end of the day concerts, ceremonies or meetings with different names are held in the world in which the final purpose is to connect with that other “I” that we perceive inhabits
inside us. With the idea of knowing these varied expressions loaded with wealth and cultural heritage, we organize this festival with a selection of artists that can hardly be heard outside the special places where they develop their work.
