Meditations with fingers and hands: The mudras

THE MUDRAS

Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes that according to the proportion of the basic elements that our body has (earth, water, air, fire and ether) we will be healthy and in balance or unbalanced becoming even seriously ill. Just as each element can have a positive influence on us, it can also destroy us. This inner balance can be restored through the language of gestures.

The following meditations can be done for a few minutes a day and their effectiveness is assured. They demand our complete attention and the fingers of our hands. These body gestures are called Mudras. These gestures are very important because they allow us to properly channel energy through our body as well as facilitate the achievement of numerous objectives such as spiritual elevation, physical healing and emotional healing.

Meditation 1: With the energy of the thumb.

The element fire, the meridian of the lung, and Mars (the planet and ancient god of war) are associated with the thumb. Thumb fire feeds the energy of the other fingers and absorbs excess energy. In this way, restore balance. It is similar to the destructive power of fire or fever.

Exercise

Lying or sitting, surround your right thumb with the four fingers of your left hand and put your left thumb along the inside edge of the right hand. Close your eyes and focus on the breath that flows inside.

Now imagine that a white light illuminates you completely, crosses you and descends to your roots and then ascends to your head illuminated your entire world. Each time you exhale, send the light rays directly to the diseased body part. Focus on the part of the body that is weaker or sicker. Calmly repeat the exercise. Concentrate only on the white light that illuminates and purifies you, make silence inside. You will notice how large and dense dark energies similar to clouds of smoke come out, fleeing from a body and an enlightened and peaceful mind. This exercise is also recommended in stressful situations.

Meditation 2: With the energy of the index finger.

The throat chakra, the large intestine and the stomach meridian are associated with this finger. This finger is also credited with the ability to send, reflect, inspiration and intuition. It is also related to the air element, which represents the mind and the power of thought. The planetary energy related to this finger is that of Jupiter, which indicates the eternal change of things, accepting life with all its facets.

Exercise

Lying or sitting, surround your index finger with the four fingers of your left hand, letting the thumb extend to the middle of your right hand. Close your eyes. You should focus on your breathing and notice the movement of the universe to the rhythm of your inhalations and your exhalations. Watch now your thoughts that come and go. Watch them carefully for a while. Do you listen to your inner dialogue? Do you know that our unconscious thoughts weaken us greatly? How are your thoughts: positive or negative, conscious or unconscious? If we do the following meditation for several days, we will realize that there is a certain habit in our thoughts. Habits can be changed the moment we become aware of them, but changes always require a certain amount of time and effort. If we continually strive to replace harmful thoughts with conscious and useful thoughts, we can also change the circumstances of our life accordingly. Keep your finger in this situation for a while and feel the heat flowing.

Meditation 3: With the energy of the Heart finger.

It is related to the heart chakra. With this finger, which is the longest of all, our body teaches us how with the heart we can reach peaks that we cannot reach with other parts of our body. Its energy radiates in the infinite. It could also be considered as a stairway to heaven. The planet that fits your energy is Saturn, located on the edge of our solar system and also called the "guardian of the threshold." However, Saturn reminds us that to move forward in our spiritual path, we must first fulfill our tasks on Earth. The meridians involved in the energy of this finger are: the meridian of the circulation and the meridian of the gallbladder. Both help us take advantage of and overcome life's challenges.

Exercise

Lying or sitting, surround your right middle finger with the four fingers of your left hand. The left thumb should extend towards the middle of your right hand. Close your eyes. Imagine yourself at work. You are doing what you like to do the most. There you can make full use of your talents and inclinations to master all the obstacles that appear in your path. Visualize yourself succeeding. Visualize yourself being happy doing what you do. Think that with your actions you enrich the world. Divinity expresses itself through you and your actions when you forget yourself and do what you are destined to do. If your occupation does not satisfy you and if you do not have leisure activities or interests that please you, then it is time to ask inside, until you receive an answer and accept it. Keep your finger silent for a while and feel the heat flowing in you. Repeat the operation with your left middle finger and change hands. These hand positions also have an excellent effect on neck tension.

Meditation 4: With the energy of the ring finger

The ring finger is associated with Apollo, the sun god, and the root chakra, which governs the pelvis. It is the strength of the resistance. The Chinese have linked this finger to the meridian of the liver. The power of a person's liver gives patience, serenity, hope and vision for the future.

Exercise

Lying or sitting, surround your left ring finger with the four fingers of the right hand, with the right thumb extended towards the middle of the left hand. Close your eyes.

Imagine the Earth, mountains and crushed rocks in all their forms, whether in the deserts, mountains or islands. What happens when the land masses begin to move? And when the earth dries up? And when the earth is totally exposed to the sun? Now imagine the fertile land. Slowly let the vegetation appear. Sprouts, stems, leaves, seedlings, shrubs, trees, forests. Now visualize a seed. With each breath we do, something moves within the seed, gradually grows and expands into the light. . At the same time, we see her take deep roots in the earth. It becomes a tree that grows slowly. You see it grow without hurry since we know that time does not matter. Only constant growth counts. The tree blooms again every year, and bears fruit. Just like the tree, which is delivered completely and every year bears fruit, we can also bear fruit if we give ourselves completely to life and act according to its purpose. Hold your finger for a while and feel the heat flowing. Then do the same with the other hand.

Meditation 5: With the energy of the little finger

Linked to the second chakra, the energy center of sexuality. It is also associated with this finger with the ability to communicate. Also related to the water element (water, symbolizes the realm of emotions). Relationships are born, nurture and strengthen or weaken. And, in turn, they give us the ability to be happy. They give us sublime feelings and improves our mood. Depending on our relationships we will have clear or dark water. We will have independence or dependence. We can experience how relationships act as a reflection of those qualities of our shadow that we reject or refuse to recognize. Venus is the planet involved.

Exercise Lying or sitting, surround your left little finger with the four fingers of your right hand, until your right thumb extends towards the middle of your left hand. Close your eyes.

With the eye of your mind, move towards the seashore and watch the waves that wet your feet. The same image can be applied for your feelings. Emotions function as flowing waves subject to the law of giving and receiving. Emotions can also be described as clouds that do not allow us to have conscious thinking. So you visualize yourself in the middle of a swell or a storm. We focus on breathing, reassuring ourselves. We inhale and exhale visualizing white light. We focus on watching our thoughts and feelings. White light arises dimly. Little by little we see the tide and clouds disappear. Sunlight appears. Calm, love and peace are installed again in our heart and now conscious thoughts and deep harmony sprout. Continue with the same operation on the other hand. Surround your right little finger and hold it for the same amount of time.
