On this occasion we will discuss the third application or foundation of attention to that of the mind. This is a truly important issue because we don't really pay much attention to what happens in it.

In the mind we find memories, thoughts, images and projections. Actually in a day or an hour a large number of mental events unfold in it, the news here is that we do not really realize them, we have no filter or sometimes we are quite permissive with what In the mind it appears .

positive, negative and neutral thoughts

For example, if we are faced with a problem at work, thoughts, positive, negative and neutral appear immediately in our mind ... hence we experience confusion and confusion over what happens, we do not know how to react, and if we are not accustomed to paying attention to our mind ... we will most likely find how the only response to the situation is to act on impulse ... without thinking ... without considering consequences ... without reflecting ... and we will be governed by habit. On the contrary, if we have observed our thoughts and what happens in the mind ... we know what happens to us when faced with a difficulty ... we know that we may have the tendency to think that those around us are wrong, or that it does not matter Whatever we say we will not fix the situation, this on the pessimistic side of the matter or that it is possible that there is a position of agreement among those involved calmly analyzing the problem ... this is the positive way of thinking about a situation .

our conditioning and personal importance

The reality is that due to our conditioning and personal importance, the tendency is to the non-constructive, which we have normally strengthened with our habits. Here the ego is the worst advisor and a challenge to work for our personal and spiritual development.

It is recommended to attend to our thoughts, since our reaction to events does not respond to what they are telling us, it is the result of what we think about what they are telling us.

In the East these thoughts are known as mental factors and although it is complicated to have a deep attention it is possible to have good results with the present and sustained attention and it is much more efficient with meditation.

"We are the ones who think"

It is not a cliché what is said that "we are what we think" ... it is totally true we are a projection of what we think and interpret with respect to what happens to us and tell us. Most of the time we believe that the outside is to blame and that it is the trigger for our negative thoughts ... and not that we are responsible ... no one tells us what to think ... we choose what to think and what to do later.

So let's take the purpose of being attentive to our thoughts, taking responsibility for them, stop blaming others and that nobody tells us what to think, we decide what to say and how to act.

we are responsible for our thoughts

Selecting positive thoughts will lead to positive results. Negative thoughts will lead us to negative actions and words ... to unnecessary conflicts and suffering for having reacted without thinking.

The interpretation of events happens in our mind and we react to what we think of them, not that it is only the mental position of the other person, if we look at it in this way we can understand that the healthiest way to relate is to analyze and talk carefully with him or others about what happens to reach an agreement, not project or assume what the other thinks because we are honest most of the time we do not even know what we think.

We must act at all times with respect to the mental position of each of those involved that will rarely be identical to ours, there are many factors, conditions and habits that will hardly allow them to think exactly like us. The best option is ... to be open ... tolerant ... generous and to reconcile our thoughts clearly and assertively with others. Without a doubt our environment will be more positive and healthy, an ideal place to grow and experience.
