David Topí: The comfort zone in the light of metaphysics (or why it is so difficult to keep working on oneself)

  • 2015

We have all heard a thousand times talk about the comfort zone, and above all, how difficult it is to get out of it to make changes in life. It requires an arduous process of solidification of the volitional capacity, the will, to be able to do and undo as we please, the circumstances of our life, without leveraging ourselves in what, for comfort, and because we are beings of customs, makes us feel safe and stable.

While we can find many psychological explanations that give us perfect valid reasons for the existence of the comfort zone in the life of the human being, we can also delve into this issue from a much broader point of view. The point of view of the metaphysical laws that always govern everything that moves in Creation so that nothing alters the balance and balance of the whole of it.

Everything in its place

As you all know, each cell in the human body has a certain function. And there are forces, patterns, and restrictions for each of these cells to fulfill their role and thereby benefit the body as a whole. What would happen if a liver cell refused to be part of the liver and went to the lung? Obviously he would not be fulfilling his proper function in the macro set to which he belongs, and there would be impediments and opposing forces for that to happen. Mechanisms such as genetic memory, consciousness, subconscious processes, motor and instinctive centers of the brain, etc., make the body function like a clock and that all part of it does not "leave" the parameters that it touches for its composition and characteristics. Thus, we have a biological and chemical machine that, in most cases, works perfectly because all its components are where they have to be and are kept in place and position by internal rules and laws that govern them and those that do not " Escape ."

And it is that every cell, tissue, bacteria or microorganism that resides in us (in our physical vehicle) is subject to a general law that keeps the whole functioning in harmony, or, at least, tries. So, in order for a kidney cell to hypothetically want to become part of the head, it will have to fight against all the body regulation systems that we have mentioned, so that, in pursuit of the common and greater good, this do not happen

So, let's go up a couple of levels. The human being is now the cell, and as a cell it is, it has its function in the whole of planetary life. Even more, it has its function in the composition that governs the life of the solar system and has its function in which governs the life of our galaxy. As such, the human being is subject to a series of earthly, planetary, solar and cosmic influences that hold him in place, in a particular role within the set to which he belongs. As a microorganism that we are within a much more complex evolutionary structure, we cannot, by good times, be allowed to abandon our position and function. There is a general law that prevents it, the law, or forces, if it sounds better, that try to make nothing move from its place, with a narrow margin of freedom, which is the appropriate margin for the function it occupies for cell, organism or human being in the macro set to which it belongs, can be carried out with some flexibility. The "comfort zone" of the human being is energetically delimited by its role within the planetary, solar and cosmic macro set to which it belongs, so there are always extremely powerful forces that prevent you from "moving" from where you are.

Influences A

Esoteric traditions often call "forces of type A" those forces that keep us in our place, in our evolutionary state, in our position, on our level. These forces or influences are what lead us through life pushing us from one place to another, as the flow of a river drags the sand, twigs, and leaves that it carries inexorably in its bed in the direction of the current. What does this mean? That since the human being is governed by the law of cause and effect, as long as he is not highly aware of all his acts and movements, of what pushes him to one side and then to the other, of what forces him without knowing how To do this, to be here or there or to take one direction or another in our life, we are constantly prey to “A” influences that drive us within the General Law of “equilibrium” for the joint macro to which we belong. Thus, it seems that we move and move through life, with the feeling that our free will allows us to do so, but we do not realize that we are always within the same safety margin that allows the planetary, solar and cosmic set to keep the liver cell in the liver and not in the head.

The law of Exception

On the other hand, there is always a possibility to get out of the general law to have more freedom of movement and break the comfort zone that pushes us to keep ourselves in the role assigned to us within the great scheme to which we belong. This possibility happens to stop being subject to the general law that regulates the balance, and to move on to live under the law of exception that regulates growth and evolution. That is, if no cell or microorganism ever put the batteries to become something better or more evolved, neither the whole of the human vehicle, of the race to which we belong, of the planet, of the solar system, or of the cosmos would ever evolve .

And that would not make sense either. But this progress and growth happens to flee from the influences A, and to bend to the forces and laws that try to make nothing move from its place (for the common and greater good) to be part of the forces that govern the opposite, change, growth, evolution, etc. For this, only those who are able to develop the willpower and persistence to leave the world of “A” influences (the forces, thrusts, causes and effects of everyday life) will have the opportunity to escape the law. which keeps us in the comfort zone of existence, and they can rule their life from now on by the law of exception.

The law of the exception, in the absence of a better name, is the set of forces that are metaphorically called forces B, which in this case, are no longer governed by the maintenance of equilibrium for the common good, but for the motivation of growth and evolution that is also part of the desire of every conscious being and divine particle of creation. All conscious energy tends to want to move towards a higher level, and since pure quantum energy is what forms our being, omnipred essence, and energy is what forms everything What surrounds us, there is always a desire to grow and improve.

What happens ?, that not all liver cells can suddenly become brain neurons, so the general law prevents and forces everyone to stay in place without moving, for the tendency to maintain stability, but the law of exception motivates those cells with sufficient will so that, little by little, some do so, creating, for example, a new type of cell (to say something) that has a potential and benefit for the larger group that was not available before. In the same way, the general law of equilibrium prevents everyone from having easy access to personal and evolutionary growth without any effort, because that destabilizes the system, so only those who develop the will and work without self-determination, they can access higher levels of consciousness. I do not believe to be the first or the only one who has written that the evolutionary path is plagued with enormous efforts and sacrifices, because overcoming the zone of evolutionary comfort imposed by influences A, it is necessary to leave precisely the world of the A influences, which is the same as leaving behind the world of the day we all know and which governs us which river current, inexorable, without any consideration n towards the sand or branches that it drags.

Many are called, few are chosen

I don't have much idea where this well-known phrase comes from, but it comes to my hair to complete the explanation. We all want to grow, work in us, advance personally and spiritually, but the comfort zone imposed by the influences of the day (the natural ones and those imposed by the system we live under) and the general law that attempts Let nothing move from your site prevent it.

Only by doing that over-effort, titanic and sometimes superhuman to get out of the margin that we are given, and we are allowed, so that we live our life with more or less comfort, can we participate in the process of growth and change also by the other laws of the cosmos.

Thus, a person who manages to subtract himself from the forces that push him in the world, and take the unique and personal path of his evolutionary and personal growth, can cease to exist under the general law, and whether you are a liver cell or a kidney cell, you are allowed to become what you want (for example, following the evolutionary scale of Gurdjieff, you can go from being man number 1, 2 or 3 to man number 4, and then five, six and seven of this you can look for information on the network about the types of men ), as long as you have the courage to follow the path by yourself, because there is no one who usually accompanies you in this transformation, until you meet those who have started their own path also trying to leave the “normal” world behind " On the other hand, until you have completely subtracted from the world of influences A, this will try to drag you back to it, and the same people in your environment that are part of that world, if they see you come out of it and break the submission to the "general law" will do everything possible to keep you in it. The pace of approach to the so-called "critical mass" for the human race to change as such due to the "exception" law is that millions of people flee their comfort zone governed by that law of balance and launch Adventure path that governs change and growth.

When an advance moves, it drags masses, and sometimes there are times when you have to live under the laws that govern growth and evolution, no matter how hard it is to leave behind the laws and forces that govern stability and balance. As I said I think Gandhi, "Thank you for being the change we need to see in the world."
