Ancient mantras are like medicine for the soul. By selecting a word or series of words to repeat them in the form of a mantra, we are affirming ourselves and allowing their meaning to seep below the surface, in our subconscious, helping us to change our habits and patterns Negative in positive.

In practice, you will often benefit from the power of the mantra. Personally, my favorite experience with the mantra occurred during a workshop with Lidia Nester.

We had to think about a challenge we were facing today and keep it firm in our mind. During the next hour, they took us through 108 rounds of Om Namah Ganapatayei Gum singing , a prayer to Ganesh, the obstacle remover. By the end, a renewed sense of purpose and will was set in motion throughout the room that unleashed on us that day, and comes alive again in me every time I hear this mantra.

As yogis, we have access to Sanskrit, an ancient language, highly mathematical, and sacred ... well, why not use them!

Sanskrit is considered by some linguists to be the "perfect language, " as the correct pronunciation evokes a unique vibration in the Universe, putting into motion what it is trying to manifest through these ancient mantras, in this case.

Hence, to show you at least my 5 favorite old mantras in Sanskrit, with their meanings and how we can adopt them in our modern life:

Some ancient mantras that can change your life completely

1- Mantra: OM

Translation : The sound of the universe. It is the first, original vibration that personifies the course of birth, death and rebirth.

Modern adaptation: Singing the OM sound puts us in harmonic agreement with the universe, this is a scientific fact. OM produces a vibrate of 432 Hertz, which is the natural musical tone of the universe, instead of 440 Hertz, which is the frequency of most modern music.

The decrease in frequency to match that of the Universe must produce fluctuations of the mind, which allows you to practice yoga through sound. OM is an idyllic way to start and end a yoga or mediation practice, and it is also useful when you only need to relax.

2- Mantra: Om Namah Shivaya

Translation : I bow to Shiva, the supreme deity of transformation that represents the truest being, the highest being.

Texasv Aavadheetamastu Maa Vidvishaavahai OM

Translation : The Lord protect us and bless us. May he nourish us, empower us to work together for the good of humanity. May our learning be brilliant and with a purpose. That never turn against each other.

Modern adaptation: A perfect mantra to start a yoga class, a new day, or even a new business. It joins the participants and sets a tone of lack of competitiveness, unity and working together towards a common goal.

5- Mantra: Om Namah Gum Ganapatayei

Translation: I bow to the deity Ganesh, who is able to eliminate all obstacles . I pray for blessings and protections .

Modern adaptation: Ganesh, in the Hindu teachings, is known as the god of wisdom and success and the destroyer of obstacles . This is one of the ancient mantras that must always be used when we face a great challenge in life and especially when we are traveling.
