Hermeticism and Kabbalah are part of the same eternal and timeless knowledge, which was always there, simply because it is part of life long before human beings set foot on Earth.

The first thing that comes to mind when we talk about Hermetism is the name of Hermes Trismegisto . This enigmatic character, represented with the body of a man and the head of ibis by the Egyptians, was Thot ; the god of the arts and sciences, of language, of magic, of music and of writing; as well as the first great master of wisdom for the Greeks, disciples of the Egyptians, for considering that it was he who brought the science of the divine into the world.

Hermes stepped on Earth long before the first pharaohs appeared, at a time when men mixed with the gods and the priesthood, the magistracy and the monarchy, were part of a single governing body. Hence the qualifier of Trismegisto, " the three times great ", since besides being king, he was also a great legislator and a high priest .

It is therefore to Hermes Trismegisto who is attributed the 7 great laws or universal principles that are collected in the Kybalion, an anonymous work of the late nineteenth century, which brings together these axioms in an extremely synthetic, almost cryptic way; as also happens with the first Kabbalistic text, the Séfer Yetsirah or Book of Formation, whose origin is lost in the night of time.

Some suggest that it could be the same person who revealed both doctrines at the same time, although perhaps there are more voices that point to the mythical Abraham, contemporary of Hermes, as the author of this ancient treaty, which many centuries later would lead to Kabbalah, the Hebrew Kabbalah or mystical branch of Judaism.

Thus, anyone who feels a real interest in unraveling the mysteries of Life, will undoubtedly end up running into Hermetism and the C bala, since they are two esoteric sciences that speak to us of the same reality: the creation, ordering and functioning of life in all its multidimensionality .

Let us then see the meaning of these 7 great Laws or Hermetic Principles so widely disseminated, but this time, also observing certain cabalistic principles that can be seen in the Tree of Life, which is still an energy diagram belonging to the so-called Sacred Geometry .

Mentalism

“The All is Mind; the universe is mental ”

This principle tells us that Everything that exists comes from a mental projection, whose energy has been gradually condensed (through the 10 spheres of the Tree of Life) until it ends up being embodied in the physical plane as something apparently solid and compact .

It could be said that we live immersed in a great hologram of mental creation, this being the primal energy that emerged from Ayin (the void), when existence woke up from the dream of non-existence and an ineffable intelligence of infinite Love and Wisdom that we usually call God wanted to see himself reflected in Creation .

Unlike what happens in the physical manifestation planes, where all creation requires raw materials that allow its transformation into something new, such as wood for furniture making, or cement to build buildings; Mental creativity does not require any first substance to create anything else . The authors of stories and novels that give "life" to countless characters and scenarios from a single element serve as an example; your mind.

Correspondence

"What is below is like what is above, and what is above is like what is below, to consummate the miracle of Unity"

This principle is explained very well with the so-called “ fractal geometry ”, where each part of an All reproduces the totality to which it belongs, only on a smaller scale. This is a phenomenon that is not only appreciated in the field of mathematics, but also observed in many structures of nature such as snowflakes, some flowers, vegetables, seaweed, corals ..., and in a way also happens same with the cells of the body, because although they can perform very different functions in the body, they all have the same genetic information. Kabbalah also contemplates this same phenomenon of fractality, since it is said that each sefira or sphere of the Tree contains a complete Tree of Life inside .

Thus we understand that this same creative capacity possessed by the Cosmic Consciousness or God to create everything that exists, is also possessed by the human being because this is a small replica of it. This is the macrocosm and the microcosm referred to by the famous aphorism of the Oracle of Delphi: " Know yourself and you will know the Universe and the Gods ."

Vibration

“Nothing is still; everything moves; everything vibrates ”

This principle tells us that Everything is energy vibrating at a certain frequency and intensity, that Everything is in continuous movement, that nothing is fixed and immovable and that Everything is subject to change, being impermanence itself the only truly permanent impermanence.

At present we know that at the subatomic level even the elementary particles of the rocks do not stop moving, there is even a large amount of empty space inside. This principle reinforces what has been said above that nothing is completely solid and compact, and incorporates the concept of " vibration ", which adds the existence of a resonant magnetic force that groups the energies by vibrational affinity .

This means that every thought, every feeling, every emotion, every word and every action, not only has a certain vibratory frequency, but also generates an attractant force destined to group other energies from outside that resonate with that same frequency. And as each hermetic law comes to realize a little more what is said in previous laws, the essential teaching of this principle is that it is always oneself who creates their own reality .

In the Sefirotic tree we also see how each sphere has a lower vibration than the sphere from which it emanated, all representing the 10 dimensions or objective aspects of the Being, and each of the 22 paths that unite them, represent the subjective aspects or attitudes that we adopt towards life.

Polarity

Everything is dual; everything has two poles; everything, its pair of opposites: the similar and the antagonistic are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; the ends touch; all truths are half truths; all paradoxes can be reconciled

This law tells us about two natural forces that are opposite and complementary at the same time, because both generate the energetic flow that gives rise to life . A clear example is inhalation and exhalation, two opposing forces that serve the same purpose: Breathe. The same goes for heartbeats and many other natural phenomena. This principle of polarity can also be seen with the naked eye in the Tree of Life of the C bala, where the Right Pillar, abstract and expansive, requires the Left Pillar, concrete and receptive; so that energy can be expressed in a balanced, coherent and harmonious way.

In this way, when we position ourselves more on one pillar than on the other, then the perception arises that something is good or bad, just or unfair, true or false ..., when in reality it only indicates that our perception is incomplete.

Rhythm

“Everything flows and refluxes, everything has its period of advance and retreat; everything ascends and descends; pendular oscillation manifests itself in all things; the measure of its movement to the right is the same as that of its movement to the left; the rhythm is the compensation ”

The Law of Rhythm is always present in our lives, although this is often totally imperceptible to us. However, this is indicated by the so-called “ circadian cycles ”, which graphically show the periods of greater and lesser physical, mental and emotional activity of each human being, in which the same pattern is always repeated, since each ascent comes preceded by a descent and each descent from a rise. These natural cycles cannot be voluntarily altered, but they are planned.

Thus, who knows well the operation of this law and its own internal rhythms, can anticipate many energy ups and downs, knowing how to do everything in due time . But this law not only affects the biological processes of the body, but covers all levels of Creation. Rhythms and cycles are everywhere: we see them in planetary rotations and translations whose effect is day and night, the rise and fall of the tides, the seasons, the ages of man, the planetary ages and so on. successively until we lose sight of them in the infinity of time and space.

This principle tells us about the existence of a global order that governs all cycles of life, in the same way that in the Kabbalah the term Sefira means ordination . This is one of the first interpretative readings that are usually made of the Tree of Life, as a successive sequence of emanations that gradually condense the energy until reaching the last sefira, Malchut, the Kingdom of God .

Cause and effect

“Every cause has its effect; every effect has its cause; everything happens according to the law; Luck is nothing more than the name given to the unrecognized law; there are many planes of causality, but nothing escapes the Law ”

This is probably the best known law of all, a law that in one way or another is mentioned in the sacred texts of all religions under different names: Law of Karma, Law of Cosmic Retribution, Law of Universal Justice, Law of Responsibility, Sowing and Harvest Law, among others; but that in any case they come to say the same thing: That everything we do in life will end sooner or later by returning to us in the same proportion and meaning, since the ultimate goal of this law is none other than to restore the lost balance It follows that good actions generate positive effects, bad actions negative effects and that no one but oneself is responsible for the events that take place in your life.

Kabbalah also tells us about the world of causes (Atziluth) and the world of effects (Assiah), among which are two intermediate worlds (Briah and Yetzirah) that correspond to the processes of transformation between each cause and its effect

However, since this law operates equally in all planes of existence without being interrupted by any kind of space-time limitation, it is logical that we are often not able to relate each effect to its cause and this leads us to feel victims of injustice. . But when this law is well understood, one discovers that there can be no greater justice than that established in this Principle.

And so that this law can be well understood, the Kabbalah, like any other spiritual doctrine in its esoteric dimension, contemplates the concept of " Transmigration of souls " or Reincarnation, which in Hebrew receives the name of " Guilgulim ", put that without this premise it would not be possible to link all effects with their causes, but we could only do so with those of the present incarnation.

Gender

“Gender is in everything; everything contains its masculine and feminine principles; gender manifests itself in all planes of reality ”

This principle is often confused with the principle of polarity, because it is also common to refer to the positive and negative or active and receptive poles, as male and female. However, the doubt is cleared when we understand that each human being has both polarities (male and female) but only one gender (male or female), from whose union the miracle of Life arises.

Also the C bala studies extensively all the processes of gestation and formation until the moment of giving birth to a new Being, with a masculine or feminine gender, depending on the kind of experiences that your soul has set out to experience.

And finally, just add that these 7 great hermetic laws contain many other smaller ones, whose purpose is to deploy all this knowledge to all areas of life, in the same way as the so-called C Babala Practical, also intends to apply the ancestral wisdom of the C baba to everyday life, so that it is not relegated to mere theoretical knowledge.
