The mind can help heal, but we need to know the tools to be effective.

Meditate, visualize, take into account the colors and the environment are some of the resources at our disposal.

What we feel, think or believe has a direct influence on body chemistry. Therefore, the treatment possibilities go far beyond the pills . Each person enjoys a multitude of resources to heal themselves. We have become convinced that without doctors or medicines, healing is not possible, however a wound closes without the help of any external agent and the immune system also eliminates viruses and bacteria.

The mind can be used in many ways to promote healing. Visualization exercises are capable of influencing the immune system, but their effectiveness seems to depend on how much communication has been worked between mind and body (in reality, two aspects of the organism that does not have isolated departments).

MEDITATION is the main work tool in this regard. It is the vehicle of the inner journey that enhances self-knowledge and intuition, understood as the inner voice that guides the whole process of self-healing and the path to a fuller life. The findings that are made thanks to meditation immediately translate into greater emotional and spiritual balance.

Meditation is a way to stop, to spend a few minutes of calm and peace that allow you to hear your own inner voice. Day by day increases security in one's own abilities, while the certainty of wearing one according to the deepest personal needs.

Things that used to cause confusion begin to make sense. The self-confidence and self-esteem found through meditation provide hope in healing.

It is also a form of relaxation, so it fights stress very effectively, one of the main causes of disease by weakening the immune system.

• Before meditating, you should take some deep breaths. First you breathe slowly for 5 minutes. Then he breathes very slowly through the nose as much air as possible, noting how the lower part of the lungs expands. Finally, after a moment of contention, it exhales very slowly through the mouth without contracting the abdomen.

• Meditate on any situation or comfortable position. In an armchair with elavated feet or in bed, for example. Just avoid interruptions. When you have enough habit, it is possible to enter into a state of meditation in almost any circumstance, such as on a bus or on a bench in a park.

• Meditation helps to recognize joy, love and humor as allies in preventing disease, as they are basic spiritual needs. Harmony with others goes hand in hand with satisfaction with oneself, without feeling the obligation to adapt to fit. This adaptation often means an excessive limitation of personal possibilities.

VISUALIZATION uses imagination. Everything that a person or a society can achieve depends on its imaginative capacity and its creativity to overcome obstacles. Equivalently, imagination and creativity are a powerful tool to heal the body.

Although it seems incredible, the visualization of certain images makes the brain immediately give the chemical orders convenient to the immune system to fight the disease.

Each person can create their own imaginative resources to heal. For example, an image of the body can be visualized, with each of its parts in different colors. The focus is on the area or areas where problems are encountered and filled with healing light. Light can enter through the head, as if liquid were spilled into a bottle, filling the body completely with a healing glow. The more real, intense and lasting the visualization, the greater its effect.

The choices of colors, shapes and scenes are personal. The colors chosen may change from day to day, depending on the situation.

A careful environment enhances the ease of viewing and the results. The relaxed music, the smell of the incense or the aromatic candles help to create a suitable atmosphere.

Visualization to boost the immune system

Close your eyes and imagine your immune system as a silk thread that joins all the parts of your body so that every organ, nerve and cell are connected.

Assign a color to that thread and see how it travels throughout your body.

Remember that your intelligence has its limitations and does not fully understand your spiritual needs. Imagine you are talking to your spirit, ask where you can place your hands to promote healing.

Let your spirit respond to you and guide you. Visualize your hands as if they gave off a healing glow, as you move them through the different areas of your body. Capture where to touch with its healing power.

Focus on the healing light and surround with it each of the areas that need it, until you perceive that the energy has penetrated it and has been absorbed by your body. After a while you may feel a slight tingling in your hands.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT THERAPY is largely a personal responsibility. If possible, aggressive treatments will be avoided and preference will be given to therapies that strengthen immunity and all self-healing resources.

COLORS influence the mood, so it should be taken into account if you want to fully exploit the powers of the mind in healing. Sensitizing color means finding out more about oneself and it serves to increase the deep harmony with our surroundings, from clothes to home walls and furniture.

• During visualizations, if a light is evoked, it can be made to have a suitable color for the desired effect. Ultimately, the effect of colors is personal, but there is some consensus about the qualities of each one.

• Red is invigorating and stimulating. Fights infections and reduces inflammations. It is indicated when the organism has a low tone.

• Orange is more positive than red. It symbolizes femininity, it is the energy of creation. It gives freedom of movement and drives away heaviness. Transforms negative energy into positive, so it is used against depression.

• Yellow stimulates mental activity. It provides distancing and objectivity in the judgments. It is used against addictions and obsessions because it helps to rationalize feelings.

• Green is associated with balance and purification. It harmonizes reason with emotions and compensates for positive and negative energies. Green reduces mental confusion and promotes concentration. It is also calming, so it serves for nervous disorders, migraines and indigestion.

• Blue is the traditional healing color, because it transmits calmness while stimulating the body's energies and strengthening the immune system.

• Indigo means flexibility and liberation. Relieves uncertainty and sends encouragement where there are resistances. It helps to get rid of thoughts, emotions and behaviors that have become negative.

• Violet enhances the imagination and generates greater awareness and spiritual perception. Restores self-esteem, controls insecurity and reinforces the emotional energy body.

THE ENVIRONMENT can be conditioned to live in a physical and emotional environment that favors health. It is within the competence of the mind to do everything possible to live in a place with a poorly polluted atmosphere and in a healthy house.

• In this sense, it is always possible to do something to improve: use natural materials, put plants or choose colors taking into account their effect, for example.

• The same can be said about the workplace and the type of relationship that is maintained with colleagues, friends and family. The emotional support a person has is one of the key factors in maintaining their health.

• Music helps to achieve inner calm to change the mood and regenerate energies. A long musical piece serves to gently enter the inner world. A visualization with music is especially interesting: you listen to the music with your eyes closed and imagine the sounds as balsamic bright colors that bathe the body. The feeling that music is modulating emotions and eliminating stress will be immediate.

WRITING serves to give a physical presence to a mental process. This materialization increases the power of the effects of ideas on the body.

• One way to use writing is to get used to making lists, as long as it is not a burden but pleasant: lists of goals, achievements, personal virtues and values, impossible dreams, pleasures ...

• Other possibilities are writing letters to loved ones, writing a diary where intimate impressions are noted, and keeping a dream diary where mental or mood state is also recorded when the eyes are opened in the morning and just before bedtime.

It is necessary to realize that only you have the key to access the most remote places of the soul and operate the healing springs. And to activate the key you have to learn to have total confidence in yourself. That is, faith in one's own intelligence, in imagination, in intuition, and in the decisions taken to overcome problems.

Meditation is being introduced in the most advanced hospitals. Dr. Woodson Merrell, from the Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston (United States), said that "meditation is perhaps the most powerful tool for health." According to Dr. Barrie R. Casselith, “it is not aggressive, has no side effects and has enormous benefits that have been scientifically documented. It helps to improve the quality of life in general, reduces pain, lowers blood pressure and heart rate, calms, improves mood… ”

In a study conducted at Harvard University, five people who meditated daily for at least five years were analyzed on an MRI scanner. For 42 minutes they were asked to alternate meditation and banal thoughts (lists of animals). The images of his brain showed that the areas that process emotions and influence cardiorespiratory function were more active during meditation. In the guided meditation sessions, the psychologist David Payne asks the sick to “give honor and respect to their bodies”, while remaining attentive to their sensations.
