Infinity of rains ago, in the world there was only one spirit that lived in the sky. Only he could make life. So he decided to start his work any day.

Bored a day of so much stillness he decided to create a lively and imaginative creature, which he called "Son", because he loved him very much from the beginning. Then very happy he threw it to the ground.

So excited was that the momentum was so strong that it hit hard as it fell. His desperate mother wanted to see him and opened a window in the sky. That window is Kuyén, the moon, and since then it watches the dream of men.

The great spirit also wanted to follow his son's first steps. To look at it, he opened a large round hole in the sky. That window is Ant, the sun and its mission is since then to warm men and encourage life every day.

Thus, every living being recognizes and greets you with love and respect. It is also called father sun.

Dome and Lituche

But on earth the son of the great spirit felt terribly alone. There was nothing, no one to talk to. Every time sadder I looked at the sky and said: Father, why should I be alone?

He really needs a partner, ”said Ngnech n, the progenitor spirit.

Soon they sent him from above a woman of soft body and very funny, the one who fell without harming herself near the first man. She was naked and very cold. In order not to die freezing, he began to walk and it happened that at every step of his the grass grew, and when he sang, insects and butterflies flowed out of his mouth and soon reached Lituche the harmonic sound of wildlife.

When one was in front of the other, she said: How beautiful you are. How shall I call you? I am Lituche, the man from the beginning. I am Domo the woman, we will be together and we will make life flourish by loving each other, ”she said. So it must be, together we will fill the emptiness of the earth, ”said Lituche.

While the first woman and the first man built their home, which they called ruka, the sky was filled with new spirits. These naughty Cherruves were whirlpools very feared by the tribe.

Lituche soon learned that the fruits of Pewén were his best food and with them he made bread and waited calmly for the winter.

Dome cut the wool of a sheep, then with both hands, rubbing and moving them against each other made a thick thread. Then in four large sticks he rolled the strand and began to cross them. Since then they make their fabrics in natural colors, dyed with roots.

When the sons of Domo and Lituche multiplied, they occupied the territory from sea to mountain range. Then there was a great cataclysm, the sea waters began to rise guided by the Kai-Kai snake.

The mountain range rose more and more because in it Train-Train inhabited the snake of the earth and thus defended the men from the wrath of Kai-Kai. When the waters calmed, the survivors of the hills began to descend. Since then they are known as "Men of the Earth" or Mapuches.
