Who is Hercules?

It is said that Hercules was called Alcides, but after being under the power of Euribeo and forced to obey him for twelve years by order of Zeus (Jupiter) and then be brought before the gods. In this process the hero is called Hercules which means " the glory of Hera ." Hera is the Psyche that synthesizes Hercules' mission in the physical and divine plan. In addition to the fact of having killed his twin brother he is aware of both aspects of his nature. He eliminated his dual entity, leaving a body-soul being . And for that reason you must work all three parts (mind, emotions and body) and be in possession of your personal development .

In this article we will study the fifth Work that is under the sign of Leo, it will mean a test of courage and its motto is " to dare ."

The fifth work of Hercules: Killing the Lion of Nemea.

The Master guides Hercules to beyond the fifth Portal so that he dares a test of courage

In the Work of the Works of Hercules, Djwhan Khul tells us the twelve works of Hercules, gives us enormous wisdom of our soul and evolution of the disciple, the aspirant and the initiate . In the myth of the fifth Work he tells us that Hercules tells his Master that a terrible job awaits him, he must grab the weapons, the shield and the arrows to fight, because he felt a strong courage . In front of the fifth Portal stood Hercules armed, but he wondered “what am I doing here?” A call of deep pain prompted him to risk that test.

The people of Nemea needed the help of Hercules to kill the lion that devastates the region. The Master tells him to go look for the lion that is beyond the fifth Portal. The people of that region live under locks, they do not leave the house, they cannot sow or cultivate the land because the lion lurks, cracks and stalks all the people. Hercules embarks on the road in search of the devastating lion of the region, but before he drops his weapons, he only keeps the wooden club he made, because those weapons only oppress him and make his speed decrease.

Thus Hercules found all the people of Nemea: locked in houses and others outside to welcome him, but all fearful of the presence of the lion and little protection with which Hercules would face him .

He undertook his search in the footsteps of the lion and the inner voice . For days he explored the road and following the lion's roar he managed to find it on the edge of a thicket . The beast governed him, but the hero froze, wielded his bow and arrow and pointed one in the direction of his back, but when he threw it he failed to get through it . He tried several times, but failed . The enraged lion threw himself upon Hercules, and he rushed wildly upon him causing him to back off and hiding in the bushes .

Hercules looked for the lion everywhere, wielding the club, until he heard the lion's roar inside a cave. He firmly entered the darkness of the cave, in which he found an opening that led to the light . The lion was behind him. While wondering " what can I do ?" He saw sticks and several branches with which he closed the opening so that the lion did not escape and turned to face him .

He did not use another weapon than his own hands to grab him by the neck and drown him, so he managed to strangle him by ending the life of the Lion and stripping him of his skin . Now the people of Nemea could leave their homes in peace and stalk their lands.

In this way, Hercules returned triumphantly with the lion's skin and placed it under the Master's feet to receive permission to use it.

This concludes the myth of the fifth work that Hcucules had to do, now we will discuss the esoteric interpretations of the myth.

The sign of Leo in the fifth job

We have already seen that Hercules' fifth job was to kill Nemea's lion and the fifth sign of the zodiac is leo, so his relationship with number five. This work is one of the most interesting numerically, because, Tibetan tells us, number five is associated with man, that in addition to possessing a mental, emotional, vital body and physical is a divine being . In the sign of Leo the man becomes the five-pointed star, whose symbol is the individualization, which is recognized as He becomes an initiate in Capricorn and manifests himself as a complete man in Aquarius . In Leo there is the union of Mother-matter and Father-spirit resulting in the Soul or Me.

The sign of Leo is one of the four arms of the cross of the cosmic Christ in which our divine aspect is sacrificed to be subordinated to the Universal mind . The constellation of Leo has ninety-five stars, numbers that express initiation (9), human perfection (10) and man (5), that is, it is man initiated and the history of his spiritual realization. Hercules knows that before climbing the mountain in Capricorn he must assassinate Hydra, a constellation related to the sign of Leo which means the search for man to the Initiation, but first he must dare to kill the lion of his nature with his hands and thus then defeat the Hydra of the illusion in Scorpio.

The lesson of the fifth job

The triumph of Hercules is to leave the cave to ascend the mountain.

In this fifth work the lion represents the destructive force that Hercules managed to kill, cornered him in the cave, without another weapon that his hands strangle him. And that nobody has seen it means that it is a fight to the death in darkness of itself .

Hercules, the aspirant, symbolizes the king, the ruler, for this reason he ends up using the lion's skin. Every aspirant has to be an evolved and dominant individual of the Personality . Because your emotions are controlled by your powerful mind, you can be aggressive, confident and have a devastating force of filial groups. He must first kill the created, that is, the lion of his personality, selfishness and protective instinct, and turn it into self-denial .

The lion threatens the peace of the region. Just as the world is full of personalities who have not defeated the lion. Missing individual people who undertake the path of service. The cave symbol is present at the birth of Christ where he managed to overcome his personality, then climbs the mountain where he is crucified until he reaches the mountain of ascension .

From a scientific interpretation, Djwhal Khul tells us that in our head there is a small cave, a bone structure that protects the pituitary gland . When this gland is functioning properly the personality is controlled. This gland is dual : it has a frontal lobe where the reasoning mind operates and the other the emotion and imagination. In that cave lies the lion's lair and there where Hercules must triumph .

According to the myth, the cave has two openings, one of them Hercules closes it before facing the lion, before it controls personality, personal and selfish emotions. So you have to get out of the triumphant cave and beat that personality .
