Marta and María have talked a lot. They represent two principles in the human soul - the active and the passive. In Marta and María we see two women, two opposing characters, two states of the human heart: one of the states is silent, calm, without speaking, a mind directed towards an eternal principle, leaning on an eternal basis; and the other state is like the waves of the sea, like the small twigs of the trees - a constant effervescence, a constant sway. Christ, however, points out to Marta what is essential, saying: "You murmur for many things that are not essential, that are out of reality, but Mary chose something more essential." Many of you fall towards these two characters - some is Marta, another - Maria. The Marias in general are noble women. They are good, they have an ideal body structure, a beautiful face, a soft look, a symmetrical forehead, a correct nose, and by heart they are soft, tender, empathetic towards people's sufferings, ready to help. "Mary" in Hebrew means salt water. Mary always halls the world; thanks to her he does not spoil, he does not get rid, he does not rot, and when you have the Marian principle in you, your heart does not decompose. "Marta" comes out of "mara", which means bitter, sour, impetuous; so this bitter principle in you, is constantly enraged, is angered, is unhappy and this he does not because of evil thought, but because it is a very active principle, which wherever he wants he wants an open path. If it is Marta, you will see that in the morning when she gets up at home, all the servants are standing, shouting, screaming; if he lifts the broom they all flee half a kilometer; she says: "Everything here must be in order and arrangement." This Martha is and in churches, and in schools, and in courts - everywhere she is. She is necessary: but do not give preference to her, or the other - or the one, or the other principle.
With these two principles I will connect two other principles that I formulate thus: principle of the superior and principle of the inferior. The principle that is personified in Mary, represents the superior, which shows how to serve God, how to be in harmony with the superior beings, the saints, the angels, who know more than us, know how to submit - we will sit quietly and quietly Master's feet for us to learn. You will say: “How many are the teachers? - One is He, a Master I know. He can have 250, 000 hairs on his head, but this does not mean that they are 250, 000 teachers. A tree can have many twigs, but they are not small trees. However, in the tree and its twigs a life penetrates. Thus unity must remain in your mind. And when the Master comes, the spirit that is in you, whether you are men or women, you have to listen deeply to this voice of soft tenderness, of Love. Love is not sour. What do you love in life? Imagine that everything in the world is only from Martas; They have raised brooms, they have raised highly dust, screams - what music would this be? I think that the houses would be well organized, there would be beautiful furniture, beautiful clothes, everything would be in order and arrangement, we would have beautiful shapes, but life would not be. On the contrary, if they were only Marias, then everything would be salt, but if there were no Martas, what would be salted? This Mary has behavior towards something else, towards some other principle, towards some other base. The superior principle, Mary, shows us the path by which we have to serve God individually. In this service we will find the meaning of our life, and in addition, to the extent that we understand the inner sense of our soul we will understand the other beings that live around us. When we learn the first principle, the superior - that we submit to God, then we will learn and the other principle - that we submit to all the inferior elements - that we submit the inferior principle in man. And when contemporary science states that it wants to subdue Nature, I understand that she wants to subdue Marta, who raises so much noise. We must learn to be good masters. He who has not learned to submit, to serve God, cannot be master, and each one of you who wants to be master must first of all learn to be a servant, servant of God, to submit: let him learn this law superior, who feels, like Mary, at the feet of Christ. And Christ says: "This good part of Mary will not be taken away." I will give an example to explain this idea. It can be a legend. They tell of the great violinist Paganini, who one day in his rounds around Europe, where he gave concerts, on his way in a city he saw an old violinist of 60 years, with trembling hands, with cloudy eyes, on the ground in front of him there is a Bowl, the violin too, since it can't play. Paganini stopped in front of the old violinist, took his violin and when he started to pull the bow, big and small he gathered around him. He played 2-10-20 minutes and all the people started putting gold and silver coins in the bowl. He played until the bowl filled. So Paganini offered his gift to the poor old man. This poor old man sat at the feet of Paganini, like Mary at the feet of Christ, and did not say, "Wait for me to see what will come out, " but instead heard how the teacher played. "Yes - he said, - I see now my great teacher, master of life." The bowl - this is a vessel in which great good thoughts spilled. When and in you come and begin to play this great Master, your bowl will be filled with noble thoughts and desires, and you will not be thin and helpless, but young, fresh, good and strong. I wish that in some given case and you do this. Not that you dedicate all your life to this, because Christ, in praising Mary, wants to tell us: “I don't want you to give me all your time, but only this one that you don't know how to use, even if this time is very little. And for the rest of the time, in which you are busy, you are free, perform your obligations in life. ” The great Teaching does not in any way imply that we leave our other obligations in life; but that hour that is determined for Mary, we have to give it. This Paganini does not always stop, this is a rarity. Leave the violin and leave. Thus and Christ will ever stop you in your life, when you are loaded, bored, when you think that your life is meaningless, that you are not useful, as if the art you study has no value; then He will stop and play with your violin. There is happiness - that you hear a great teacher as he plays, or that you see a great painter as he paints. This Teaching we have to study - the Teaching of being reverent before God and that we subordinate ourselves to Him, in which subordination we will learn all the virtues. What are the current conflicts between people coming from? From this, people are sour, not soft, tender. If all people were soft, tender, life would be happy - internally and externally. If people respected each other, if they had mutual condescension, there would have been great harmony in life. I do not consider blessed people who fight each other every day: they murmur against God every day. I hear only murmuring: and from scientists, and from priests, doctors, professors, preachers - they all murmur. Priests, doctors, when they are given money, they are unhappy with what was given, little was; the Lord has given more and less to them - this is already a murmuring. If he is a pastor, he will say that his fold is small, he wants more - and this is a murmuring. The scientist and he mutters, that few capacities have been given to them. Who is guilty? Always the Lord! Not only for you I speak, those who are here, but and for those who are outside - they all murmur. The law of the Superior is that gratitude and charity always flow to God.
Some ask: Where is the Lord? How to find him? The Lord can find him and the little children. 2, 000 years have passed since the philosophers argue to see where the Lord is if he is in Heaven, if he is in the stars, or In the human heart. Preachers say it is in the human heart; the astronomers who are in the Universe, like an exile; some say he is present, others say he is not present. I say: Change only the behaviors of things sleep at night and are awake in the morning, when the sun rises, and you will see the Lord, I will find Him is. I see him every day, I sleep at night, and in the morning, when dawn breaks, I get up to welcome him. Here is the philosophy of life. The Lord as a Sun rises. And what do current people do at night? For concerts, dances, theaters, and when the Lord dawns, they sleep. Christian Democrats, of the noble good morning! The Lord enlightens everyone: and the snakes, and the reptiles, and the mosquitoes, and all the beasts that do so much evil. He does not tell them: T you must hide in your hole . In the same way appear and you before God and warm up. This is the meaning of life. We do not suffer from this, that on Earth there are many snakes: their number is determined, they are in place, but when they increase twice more than is due, without fail the excessive number will be exterminated. When wolves are a certain number, they are in place, but when they multiply, the excessive number must again be exterminated. And so, if you do not help every thought and every desire within you, that is, if you have not learned to serve God, this thought, this desire will order you. And then, by the same law, just as you oppose God, so and your desires and thoughts will resist you. This, what I speak to you, if you can apply it in your life, you will see how effective it is.
Some say: "That we educate the world, the people." In this sense I do not believe in education, because all people are individual cells of the Divine organism, of the Divine body, so each one separately has to educate himself. I cannot order you: this would mean that you commit a sacrilege - that you lie to God. I do not want to order. Why? Because these people belong to the Lord, I don't have the right to order and abuse other people's things; I have the right to be master only of my thoughts and desires; I can order them; but to everything that is outside of me, I will have to serve. So and you have to do.
Then we will descend to the lower elements - to the unreasonable. What does the Bible say in the first chapter? God created Heaven on the first day, and then - the Earth. Heaven, I understand, Mary, and Earth - Marta. Earth was not organized, then - sour. The scientific people say that when Marta appeared, around her there was a storm, a hurricane, a fire, a steam lift, and then God said to Marta: “Marta, Marta, you raise a lot of noise, the progress is not there ; Maria chose the good part - look up. ” The Earth, Marta, looked up and began to revolve around herself and around the Sun. Thus life formed around her, many creatures were formed and finally man. When the Lord finished His work, he said: "Everything around Marta is fine." And it was done the first day, and after this came the second day until the seventh. Now, some of you are Marta - they raise noise, flames come from their heart and mind. Marta has no lakes, no river, and the great Master says: “Marta, Marta, do not be disturbed, only one thing is necessary, Heaven, the reasonable, the great in the world, look up, this is what you It will make sense. ” When and you look up, immediately your spirit will begin to move correctly around its center, around which you will move, the center that will send you what is necessary and what is required for you every day.
And so, God has created simultaneously in us and Mary, and Martha - they are the two poles of the human soul. I could explain to you, at some time, the inner sense of these two principles that act in the world. But of how much has been said, knowledge, when it accumulates and does not apply, forms certain sediments, and people begin to be disturbed about what to do. A student from an evangelical school, during a lesson in Bulgarian grammar, which understood little, when the teacher came, to justify himself, said: “In the Bulgarian language there are many grammars, from Iconomov, from Grigórov and others, why do I have what to study? ”Once, twice, in the end the teacher replied:“ Listen, friend, what the grammar of Iconomov, Grigórov says, I do not want to know, you will study for mine ”. When the Lord comes, you say: "There are philosophers, like Kant, Schopenhauer, Tolstoy, those who say this and this, but there is contradiction in them, what do we have to follow?" The Lord tells you: "You will follow this what I tell you. " And when you want to follow the Divine Truth, you have to enter your soul; Then you will understand life in another way. In you other capacities will be formed, you will see that around you there are other beings, much larger, that are creating, and you will say: “How blind we have been!” I ask you, those who reflect: “If you were in the position of an ant and if a philosopher stepped on you and crushed you, what would you think about his legs? ”You would say:“ A rock fell on us and crushed us ”, and this rock constitutes a small particle of this giant. Someday you say: "Destiny pursues me, runs after me." And this is nothing else, but the leg of a great philosopher who has stepped on you. You must not stand in front of the path of the philosophers, of the scientific people: they will not stop for you; they walk their way and if you get in the way, the philosopher's leg will crush you. When you complain to me, I will tell you: Your place is not on this philosophical path, you are ants, choose other paths. Here is the philosophy of life. When I see the unhappiness of a man, I look up and see a giant who has trodden and crushed him.
And so, the Lord has made the world, all the worlds. There are 18, 000, 000 Soles in the Milky Way, and each one moves along its determined path, and between one Sun and another Sun there are 25 billion kilometers away, so that a crash does not occur. The Lord has drawn these paths. And around your life He has drawn a certain path, a certain space and tells you: "May you never cross the frontier of your kingdom." You want to make a pact with other kingdoms; the men and women of two kingdoms made a pact, to form a kingdom, and they fought. Why do they fight? Let each one reign in his kingdom. "Come - says someone - that we put the money in a place and keep it for us." Each one keeps the money in his purse. Give no one your money. On Earth, whoever you give it to, will take it. That is why Christ says: "Put your wealth up." Up up! This is the true meaning of life. And so, we are crooked by that, that we want to misrepresent our life, the one God has commanded. I know, some people hate someone and take it everywhere with themselves. Leave him, have only God: He is the one who enlightens, let Him enter into your Sancta Sanctorum. The people of today are very devoted to the gods: they have gods of work, of glory, of strength and they smoke incense. Take your hammer and all these idols throw them out and break them; Sit down after this at the feet of your Master and you will understand the deep inner meaning of your life. This is what Christ means - that the good that Mary has will not be taken away from her. You worry about many things, you say: "I have this, I have that"; you are the master of these things, take them and throw them away. I have observed some masters sitting in chairs, like me now, and they order. He wants something to happen to him that he can take, the bell rings - "Tintin!" No one shows up. Call once, call twice and finally go out to fight. But friend, get up, just lift this thing, you can do it alone. His shoes are 5 steps away from him - "Tintin!", Let the servant come and bring them to you. He will scream and be angry. Take them alone, because the tranquility and peace you have is worth more than this, that the servant has not brought the shoes in time. And you can only do it; Take your shoes and then give the servant a moral so that she comes on time. This is what the Lord requires, because this servant is not your servant, but another's servant. Once I tell you that I am a servant, but not of you, not of the people, I am a servant, but of God. In the city of London a Baptist preacher goes to another preacher, whose name is Spurgeon (here the Master speaks of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, 1834-1892 - tr. Note), and to give himself greater importance, he writes on his little card: "A brother of yours in Christ awaits you outside to see you." Spurgeon writes on the other side of the card: "Tell him that I now have work with his Master." If someone comes from outside and tells you: “A brother of yours in Christ awaits you outside, ” you tell him that you are conversing with his Master. And this servant, who you have called out for shoes, she has had work with her Master, and if you break her peace of mind, her Master will take you by the ear. This is the greatest philosophy that contemporary people have to learn. Servants must be from God! When we learn this Great Law, the behaviors between us will come in their normal way. I observe people: if you are willing, all people are pleasant to you; if you are indisposed, if you have risen incorrectly, if you have gone out with your legs out, people are crooked for you all day. This state can follow a week, a month; We call him a new philosophy - pessimism, and people - pessimistic. To justify his defect, you say: "He is a pessimist" - according to the words of Schopenhauer. You are all philosophers. The Bulgarians are even taller than and Schopenhauer: in all there is this rest of the shadow of pessimism; the Bulgarian soon becomes discouraged, despairs, and then comes the philosophy of Schopenhauer - comes Marta. I say only one thing: You are obligated to submit to God, you are not serving Him and that is why all these things have come to you. There is no other destiny in the world, and on the day when you submit to God, to your destiny, everyone else will submit to you.
This is the teaching for Maria and Marta. Maria - this is Heaven, Marta - Earth. Maria - this is the superior in the heart, Marta - the inferior in the heart. Mary - this is the highest in the mind, the theosophists call her "superior manas", Marta - this is the "lower manas", etc. You, when you go to your homes - I see them, those are magnanimous, - then say to yourselves: "Come Marta, come Maria, you are two good sisters." Christ, He is the upper Spirit, the upper Principle. If Maria had responded to Marta, she should have said: "Wait a little for me to listen, then I will help you." Christ spoke, that's why Mary didn't work at all. When you return home now, if you get angry, if you shout, you will say: “Marta, do you know what the Master says? You must submit. ” Maria has to be noble, delicate, to speak as a sister, to say: "Wait a little, sister, I will then be at your service." That's how Maria has to talk. And when her sister speaks awkwardly, let her say: "How beautiful, how pleasant you speak!", Because between the noble and the ignoble there is a certain harmony, between Love and hate there is a kinship. I already know the two sisters. But he who enters among them, they drown him out of love. They drown him, and when he dies, they say, "What have we done!" But Love says: "We are going to resurrect him." Hate says: "I'm going to bury him." - "Good, " says Love. They put dirt on it, but then comes Love and when it gets hot, hop, jump - it resurrects. Hatred and Love constantly work in the world, and we have such a bad opinion of hate, of envy. They are snakes, reptiles, but nice in some cases. What would the world be like without reptiles, snakes, flies, etc.? Show such a world. Where is your best world? No, as this world is made, it is great for its thoughts, great for its expressions. And this, of which you constantly complain, this is the disharmony that is within you, this is Marta, the unorganized Earth; This noise, which constantly blizzards in us, is exactly he who breaks this harmony. The Divine Spirit has to descend, to say His word. And so, the Spirit has descended and commands. He works. Have invincible faith in this great principle that lives in Mary; have faith and in the beginning you live in Marta; have faith in Christ, because Christ, Who is upon them, unites them. Unite and you these three: your spirit, your Mary and your Martha, and begin the new year with this. I do not finish, I leave a large gap between everything said, to see how you will solve the puzzle. I am clairvoyant and when I look into your future, I see how some rise, others fall, I see how some walk along the road and others zigzag; but everyone, at the end of everything, will be fine, only there will be hesitation and delay. When they board a large ship in the ocean, some, by the hesitation of the ship, vomit, and others - no. How interesting are these aristocrats in the ocean: during the first day - gallardos, dresses, embellished with rings, necklaces, all joyful, happy; but when the ship starts to swing, everyone gets thoughtful, like philosophers, as if they are listening to some important prediction. On the second day they begin to feel in the stomach some deflection, the consumption of lemons begins, lying on the floor and vomiting. But when they go ashore, - "How did you spend it in the ocean?" - "Successfully." Oh-oo! This ocean from Earth to Heaven, until you pass it, how many times will you vomit! You will say: "It is a very difficult job!" But when you go ashore, you will have an ideal appetite, because you will be very well purified. This Marta in the ocean raises a great noise around her, shakes ships, produces screams, crying, but when you go to the earth, Mary immediately comes, you say: "Glory to God, we have passed it successfully." Do not be afraid, always be with your great Master, so that you can solve the question of life. You have very complicated duties in life: education of children, behaviors of men and women towards each other, behaviors towards society, behaviors towards humanity. Many obligations you have. How are you going to finish them? Some think that when they become Christians, they have no obligations. Do not! Exactly the opposite, the Christian has more and must fulfill his obligations very well, and when the day ends he has to feel a great tranquility, because he has fulfilled what he should fulfill, and what he has not done, to put it in his program to the next day. One day you will be Marta, another day - Mary, and when you are at the feet of your Master, then let Marta and Mary, all be silenced, let everything be silent for an hour.
There is the Teaching and the thought that Christ introduces. Learn to serve the Higher, so that you may be masters of the lower.
