The Sense of Lightness

  • 2017

Chesterton once said that " angels know how to fly because they take themselves lightly ." One sees so many faces overshadowed by the seriousness that it would be understandable if it were caused by pain. But this kind of seriousness that drags the human being to the earth and kills the life of his spirit is not the daughter of pain, but of a certain type of representation in which the actor deceives himself by identifying himself with his role.

When children participate in the performance they also do it seriously, but it is different, because the child is aware that it is only a game and its seriousness is an indirect way of having fun. But in the adult this seriousness becomes vice, because it transforms the game into religion, identifying with the role or position in life that is so afraid of losing. This occurs especially when the unenlightened person reaches any level of responsibility; develops a lack of lightness, abandonment, and a rigidity that indicates that he is using his dignity as stilts to keep his head above adversity.

The problem is that, instead of playing his role, it is he who represents him, making him the laughing stock of all who observe him through his disguise.

The message of Eastern wisdom is that the forms of life are Mayan and, therefore, from the point of view of reality, they lack seriousness. For the world of form and illusion that most people take as real, is nothing more than a kind of theatrical representation of the Spirit, or, as the Hindus have called it It is the dance of Siva. He is the enlightened one who joins her being aware that it is a game, since the human being suffers only because he takes seriously what the gods have created for pure fun. Hence the human being only becomes a human being when he loses his sense of the lightness of the gods. For the gods (or buddhas, or whatever you prefer) are simply our own and most intimate essence, which could make people and reduce the universe to nothing in a moment if I wanted to .

But that is not the case, and the worlds continue to move with the divine purpose of a game, because, like a musician, he is a creator who delights in making a rhythm. and a melody. Joining his game is not a duty, but a pleasure, and whoever does not see it that way will not be able to participate in it or understand it.
