Forgiveness, a change in the heart by Mary Damiani

A beautiful Arab legend tells that, “when a great friend offends us, we must write the offense in the sand, where the wind of oblivion and forgiveness will be responsible for erasing it and forgetting it. On the other hand, when a great friend helps us, or something great happens to us, it is necessary to engrave it in the stone of the memory of the heart, where no wind from any part of the world can erase it.

A very important element to feel healthy is to know how to forgive. Forgiveness is the gateway to healing and is a powerful way to purify our own hearts.

When we do not forgive we feel a burden, an inner weight that disturbs our mind, because we remember the offense again and again. We must examine what we allow to enter our conscience and daily extract what is intended to take away our joy and joy. We must prevent thoughts of anger or resentment from invading us, for these feelings do not provide relief, but tend to deepen the wounds.

There is no doubt that holding on to resentment and thoughts of revenge can make us grow old, says Dr. Gerald Jampolsky, founder of the Attitudinal Healing Center in California.

An important step in learning to forgive is to have humility.

In the book Misc. Writings, by Mary Baker Eddy, there is a paragraph about that: Who is your enemy to whom you should love? Is it a living being or a thing outside of your own creation? Can you see an enemy, unless you first shaped him and then contemplated the object of your own conception? What does it give you? Can the high, or the deep, or anything else separate you from Love, which is the omnipresent good that infinitely blesses one and all?

Forgiving yourself and others, in addition to being an act of humility, is an exercise in goodness and will allow us to place trust in divine Love to receive strength.

Let's leave the weight of resentment behind, let's move on, we keep our mind and heart to enjoy a happy life!
