The documentary A Farm for the Future was first aired in February 2009, as part of the BBC Natural World series. It is a true story, told in first person by its director Rebecca Hosking, who considers the return to her native Devon as a life project, to take charge of her parents' old family farm.

From her professional career as a documentary filmmaker who made several films about wildlife, Rebecca wonders how to transform her family's agricultural establishment located in the south of England, into a low-energy farm more suitable for the near future, in the that fossil fuels will be increasingly scarce.

Aware of the energy-food landscape that awaits us, Rebecca explores, over 48 minutes, various sustainable agriculture alternatives to assess the conversion of her farm, always aiming as a primary objective to the non-dependence of fossil fuels.

With the help of renowned researchers, permacultores and pioneers, he records with his subtle, specialized and detailed camera, the different visions of each one, which coincide in pointing to nature itself as who provides the keys to agriculture in a future of low Energy.
