Musicians committed to the environment

"The ocean
Do not discard a single drop
The Cosmos is
A love chest
And you have the key ...
And you have the key… ”

Thus begins Tawhid Cafe, the first song of the Multaqa Antigua Contemporània album. The creation of the musical group Burruezo and Bohemia Camerata will be launched at the end of October and is distinguished from the rest of the discs of the market because 5% of the sales generated - in physical or virtual version - will be destined to the reforestation work that it carries Forward the More Trees Foundation, within the campaign 100 million trees in the Iberian Peninsula.

It is the first time that a compact disc appears in the Spanish market that, through a percentage of its commercialization, will compensate the CO2 of the emissions generated during its manufacture.

In this way, the Burruezo and Bohemia Camerata group, the More Trees Foundation and the K Industria Cultural record company have decided to join forces and propose an innovative alternative in the defense of the environment.

Although the songs contain an important spiritual content, they also suggest the need to assume a greater commitment to the care of the environment. The lyrics have been written by Pedro Burruezo, former leader of the Claustrophobia group, and are inspired by the works of great Sufi thinkers of Islam.

"It is an album that has perfumes of Sufi, Jewish and Christian music although under a contemporary look, " Burruezo has summed up.

The title Multaqa, whose meaning in Arabic is reunion, refers to the songs and melodies that make up the album, performed by a multiracial group of musicians and performers of various religions and ethnicities. One of the best known participants is the Sudanese artist Wafir Gibril, a former member of Radio Tarifa.

As Burruezo explained to Positive News, the idea of collaborating with the More Trees Foundation came about when he met its director, Oscar Rando, at the BioCultura fair, held in Barcelona last May.

“We both come from the world of music and we are working on environmental activism. Rando really liked the idea and pointed out that we could do something together. Enric Pedascoll, of K Industria Cultural, also liked the idea of allocating a part of the benefits of the disk to plant trees with which to offset the CO2, emitted during the manufacture of the compact disc, ”recalled the singer.

The album will be officially presented on October 30 at the Fira de Musiques d ”Arrel Tradicional Medieterr nia, in Manresa. People interested in witnessing a live group performance can approach Moza k Cabaret, in Re s, next September 21.
