The Interior Colors Cosmic Weather Report by Mark Borax September 2010

  • 2010

September 22 is the Autumn Equinox, the moment when the Sun enters Libra. Libra loves mystery. His passion is to decipher the chemistry of what makes life and love flourish. The depths of Libra, like the forests of New England in the fall, contain secret corridors, underground sinuosities similar to the path that the tree nutrients travel between their hidden roots and fully exposed branches.

Libra's difficulties are complicated by the discord that results when life and love languish in repressed, trapped stages, instead of blooming in all its colors. When couples settle for diminished versions - rather than passionate - of association, when daily existence is wasted in boring routine, Libra shrinks to a fraction of its full power.

How to keep in touch with that inner essence of inspiration that transforms existence into something magical and profound?

Since the giant Saturn entered Libra this summer, this question floats in the air, even before the Equinox, and will become instrumental for the next two and a half years as this outer planet passes through this enigmatic sign.

Like fall foliage, there is more to Libra than what is seen with the naked eye. Under a casual look it seems that the leaves of New England changed color in autumn, but this is not the true story, because the colors were there all the time, hidden under a bright layer of green painted by chlorophyll. During the cold nights and mornings of September in Vermont, the chlorophyll fades revealing the bright tones that were waiting behind the scenes, during the previous acts of spring and summer. To produce the famous explosions of golds, oranges and browns, roses, reds and especially the rich saturated colors that mark the special years when the forest is at its peak, it requires only a slight scratch of the green by the decreasing temperatures of autumn. But the fall of New England is not just a visual spectacle, but a multi-sensory excursion. The air becomes penetrating with a certain smell that the leaves only seem to acquire in New England. The crunchiness of the leaves seems to extend to the spirit of the people, awakening creativity even while the strong gusts and storms of the northwest send the first batches of maple, oak, wild cherry, walnut, beech, ash, poplar and birch circling heaven.

And at the end of August, the first tiny buds of color only sprout from the most stressed trees, which lose their chlorophyll before the others.

So also with human beings. The internal composition of a human being or a loving association is hard to imagine at first. And those who burn brighter tend to get stressed before others, and so, perhaps we reveal more than we are made.

The Libra in me (I was born on October 2) loves to decode the underlying themes and patterns of a single human being, a relationship, or a period like the current moment of cosmic weather here on earth.

With Saturn in Libra, as we approach the Equinox, we are all invited to discover what we are made of. What dream of life and love burns brighter within you?

Parts and pieces, and random clues and glimps are now leaking below the green. Libra asks us to learn the give-and-take of life. Who they run with, where their soul sisters walk, what greater awareness is possible when they meet their own kind of spiritual outlaws and push the boundaries of the everyday - in ways that they can learn when they can bend and reach an agreement, and what is not negotiable, when they have to stand firm inside and claim as their own.

Libra's "weak point" is to want to please the crowd, to give others what they seem to want even at the expense of their own truth. Many comings and goings of the balance are required to identify the true ground on which they step and learn when the path of inflexibility is more true than an agreement, which is why the iron hand in the glove has been called Libra velvet

This act of juggling over the next two years will accompany one of the greatest turning points in the history of the world. Civilization has run its course. Two thousand years of Pisces are ending. The Age that began with Christ is ending. We are ready for a new era of human consciousness and we are being asked to be more flexible in some areas and uncompromising in others.

More than anything, as old stories lose their power, we need new stories to navigate with. The most powerful way to change the world is for people to transform the stories they tell themselves. The things we tell ourselves are more instrumental than anything else, especially the things we tell ourselves below the surface, where we usually don't realize that we are saying something. Stories about my god being better than yours, stories based on fear and lack and scarcity, now give way to tales of the hidden magic of life, stories of regeneration and hope and healing and love and miracle .

Especially in our relationships with others, now and in the coming years we have to open our dreams to what is possible, and not settle for less, instead of getting caught in the shallow Libra, pleasing the crowd, we have to practice pushing ourselves ourselves, polish ourselves, develop life and love as transformative art.

The world is transforming. Our DNA is rewound. The way things work can no longer be based on the old stories that are taken for granted. Under the accommodating green leaves of summer, personal myths, childhood prejudices and assumptions of the masses, are being ripped from one side to the other in the universal balance, to let go the same way as we look at the world.

This summer I talked to people in different parts of the world who felt relieved to learn about the ongoing global transformation within which they can see their personal disturbances. No, they are not crazy. Yes, things are changing radically. No, they cannot count on the old methods to produce the same results. Each of us is being invited to locate the places where we cling to worn out tales and try something new.

The day after the Equinox is this year's Harvest Moon, which falls into the first degree of Aries and contains an unstoppable explosion of willpower. In primal bursts, at the end of September, the full moon will convey to us the urgent need to resolve the key differences between self and other, be clear in love and relationships, unite with your tribe, group or circle, and aim Your creativity towards the stars. That way we help change the world.

Who you really are? What did you come here to do?

How much longer will you wait?

Go ahead!
