Introduction

God has presented himself saying "I Am Life." In this document we recognize it this way, like Life: its creator, its provoker, its fullness, its integrity, its perfection, its sustainer.

This text is enriched with the words that the German abbess Hildegarda de Bingen (12th century) embodied in her work the "Book of divine works", specifically in the first vision of the first part of this book.

Hildegarda had the gift of vision since her early childhood. She explained in a letter to Guiberto de Gembloux how his visions were: “My spirit, by the will of God, ascends to the top of the sky (…) But I do not hear these things with the ears of the body or with the thoughts of my my heart, nor do I perceive them by the joint action of my five senses, but only in my soul, with the outer eyes open; in such a way that I never experience in this the faintness of ecstasy, but in a vigilant attitude I see them day and night (...) In the shadow of the Living Light the Scriptures, sermons, virtues and some works shine for me made by men. Everything that I have seen or learned in this vision I have in my memory for a long time (...) And what I write is what I see and hear and I do not put other words than those I hear; and with unpolished Latin words I say things as I hear them in the vision ”(In: Fraboschi: 2010: p.101).

Creator of Life

All things were made for him, and without him nothing that was made was made. In him was life, and life was the light of men ”(Jn 1, 3-4).

The German abbess narrates in the first vision of the "Book of divine works" that " From eternity all things were in God, but not as in a place (...) All the things that God has worked have had them in his presence before the beginning of time. Since, in the pure and holy divinity, all visible and invisible things appeared without instant and without time before all times (...) When God said: Let it be done, all things were immediately dressed in their form, that form in which the divine prescience contemplated them in their incorporeity before the times. In fact, just as all the objects in front of a mirror are reflected in it, so in the holy divinity all his works appear without age and without time (...).

In the same way that a light ray reveals the shape of a creature by the shadow it casts, so the pure foreknowledge of God contemplated each of the forms of all creatures before they took shape, because the work that God was preparing to to perform, before the same work took shape, shone within his foreknowledge and in his likeness ”(Hildegard: Book of divine works: p. 34).

God has given life to all creatures, including us. That is why, like the angels, it is up to us to worship him and thank him for the gift of life . That is why we are called to honor and respect life, in all its forms and manifestations: the life of animals, the life of a fetus, the life of water, the life of an old man, the life of trees, our life.

Raising, life-giving and life-sustaining

In one of his visions, the first narrated in the "Book of divine works", Hildegarda sees the image presented at the beginning of this article and hears that it says:

I am the supreme and scorching energy, I am the one who has ignited the spark of all living beings, nothing mortal flows from Me, and I judge all things. With my upper wings I fly over the circle of the earth and when I cover it with my wisdom I order it straight. Also the scorching life of the divine substance, burns on the beauty of the fields, shines in the waters and burns in the sun, on the moon and in the stars, and with the celestial breath I raise life in all beings, vivifying them with the invisible life that sustains everything. Indeed, the breath lives in the green of the forest and in the flowers, the waters flow as if they were alive, and also the sun lives by its light and, when the moon declines, the sunlight resurfaces to a new life, and the stars also shine with their clarity as if they were alive (...) being I fire energy that is in them invisibly, they light up thanks to Me, as breathing is the cause by which man constantly stays in movement and as the flame lives in the scorching wind.

All things in their essence are alive and have not been created in death, because I am life . I am also the ability to reason, because I have the breath of the sound word, for which every creature has been begotten. And in the creation of all things I have introduced my breath in such a way that no being of creation is ephemeral in its kind, because I am life. I am a complete and perfect life, which has not flowed from the stones, neither blooms from the branches nor has an origin thanks to the seed of a male, but everything that is vital has sprouted from Me (...)

I am the support of everything, because all vital things receive their ardor from Me. My life is the same in eternity, life that has no beginning and will have no end . When he sets in motion and acts, it is God, and yet, this one life is divided into three vital energies. Eternity is the Father, the Word the Son, the breath that connects them is called the Holy Spirit. Likewise, God wanted to represent this in man with three elements: body, soul and reason. My flames dominate over the beauty of the fields, that is, the earth, the matter with which God formed man. Just as I penetrate the waters with my light, the soul penetrates the entire body, and just as the water irrigates the entire earth, so the soul flows throughout the body. If I say that I am burning in the sun and the moon, it is an allusion to intelligence: are not the stars the innumerable words of intelligence? And if my breath, invisible life, universal maintainer, awakens the universe to life, it means that things that live and grow owe their livelihood to the wind and wind according to the gifts of their nature, far from nothing (Hildegard: Book of the divine works: p.32-33).

We already know in the hands of who our life is, we already know who to ask for our protection and health, because life is health . God can give us health in abundance if we ask and if that is what our soul needs at that time.

Hildegarda von Bingen

Love is life

For Hildegarda Love is Life, concepts both expressed with the image of fire ( energ a gnea ), while implicitly adding the notes of brightness and effulgence, dynamism, mobility, heat and, finally, the power, typical of fire, all of them identifiable with love and life. The Supreme Being as Love itself, life that communicates, the creative energy of God (Fraboschi, 2010, p.103).

Love is Life and healthy love : emotionally, spiritually and physically. Love cheers, love comforts, love blanket, love nourishes. Centuries ago, babies and children were cared for and fed in orphanages, and yet a great number of them died. Those responsible did not understand why. Decades later they understood that these babies and children were lacking the love that allows them to grow and live .

Jesus, the great healer of man, healed with a caress many who came to him, and could even wake up those who were chosen from death, such as L zaro (Jn 11, 38) and the son of the widow of Na n (Lc 7, 11). He, who said that the most important thing was to love God and his neighbor, was the great healer.

Christ told us that we should not even have bad thoughts towards another person, nor look with lustful eyes at a woman, because that hurts and makes others sick .

Life in god

Only the madness of death in the world can be overcome by practicing the wisdom of life in God (Cattiaux: III 31 : p.42).

Our life remains in God when we praise him, when we worship him, when we invoke him, when we pray to him, when we do his will, when we fulfill his commandments, when we exercise love, when we believe in his Word, when we seek him, when we contemplate him.

Our life was created by God, and if we make her stay in Him, she can be protected by her embrace, protected by her fatherhood, blessed by her love, facilitated by her providence, overflowing with her health. If we are aligned with the One God of Love and Life we can walk in peace and tranquility. " Since you have placed the Lord for your refuge, the Most High for your protection, no evil will come upon you, no calamity will come to your home" (Psalm 91).

In the vision, Hildegarda understood that “When a man puts himself at the service of God in the depths of a glorious submission, when he dominates Satan, he rises and enjoys the happiness of divine protection . When his heart is exalted with the ardor that leads him to the Holy Spirit, when he turns his gaze to God, the holy spirits reveal themselves with luminous clarity, to offer God the gift of his heart. The eagle represents the men of faith who with all the devotion of the heart turn their gaze to the contemplation of God with the same frequency as the angels ”(Hildegarda: Book of divine works: p.34).

Eternal life

It is true that no person has lived in the body for thousands of years. That is not the purpose of those who give themselves to God. Its end is the eternal Life that Christ promised to those who believe in his word and follow him.

Life on earth must help us find the way to the Most High and his salvation. To be one with Him and achieve eternal life that does not die with the body.

Jesus was so full of eternal life that he rose from the dead and appeared to his followers for forty days.

It is not necessary to find the elixir that prolongs our life on earth one hundred years more. It is only necessary to find life in God that lasts for eternity.

Closure: the simplified model

In this article we have presented, in simplified form, the bond that unites God, Life, Love, health, praise, protection and eternal life . We have not fallen back on the disease that teaches and purifies, on the demon that attacks saints, on difficult inheritances, on souls that accept complicated roads, on crosses that are true Christians, on incomprehensible accidents, on curses that hurt, on the hatred that Bush. That exists, but here we have preferred to refer to the benefits of the path of salvation, which leads to the Kingdom of Heaven, to the Father's House, and which can be traveled here on earth in the abundance of life, health, Protection and peace.
