With his concise form of Family Constellations, Bert Hellinger managed to considerably expand the therapeutic repertoire. All this also earned him international recognition. In the work with Constellations, the past, the present and the possible future of a couple are intertwined in an orientation towards the solution. Thus, the relationship can be perceived and valued from a new perspective. In this book, this process is documented in a large number of constellations of couples and family systems with the most diverse problems.
Bert Hellinger liked to take long train journeys to some workshops with couples, to read poems by Rainer Maria Rilke. He, at the beginning of the 20th century, wrote to a friend: "I'm glad you exist."
Today, at the gates of a new millennium, the philosopher André Comte-Sponville extends Rilke's phrase:
«To love you have to be willing to assume two solitudes, your own and that of the other.
To love means to tell someone: «Yes, I love you as you are. Even if you don't respond to my dreams or my hopes, the fact that you exist makes me happier than my dreams. »
Bert Hellinger takes another step further, saying: “The perfect does not exert any attraction on us. Rest in yourself, away from normal life. We can only love the imperfect ».
