92-year-old yogi shares secrets for happiness and longevity

  • 2015

To know who I am and what I really like, a lot of dedication, desire and knowing how to overcome fear was necessary. And it wasn't until the mid-80s that I really started making this change. This 92-year-old yogi says that he wants to share his secrets to have a happy life and reach longevity.

From the moment I started walking and talking, the word "challenge" has instinctively been my mantra. Today, that mantra is what makes me who I am. Once a challenge presents itself, you can start accepting it but not facing it will make you lose the reason to have a new opportunity. You will have missed something that could change the path of life and you may never have that opportunity again.

Practicing yoga, dancing Tango, flying on a trapeze and jumping rope, none of this was planned and yet somehow, these things found me much later in my life. These practices have been the most rewarding challenges of my existence on this planet.

The trapeze catapulted me to write lyrics, make music and blogs. Tango catapulted me to compose tangos. Each new practice opened another door for me.

Nor was it a purpose to practice yoga, however thanks to a friend I was able to have a short dialogue with the yoga teacher, and only five minutes after I started with meditation, this made me think, “Wait a minute, I think I really liked it this… "

My body responded without too much pain or difficulty, that class was the beginning of an incredibly beautiful, powerful journey that I am still doing, and will continue for the many years that await me.

Benefits of yoga for happiness and longevity

I found that in yoga, the time between each pose is the true essence of the practice. Do yoga to live and live to do yoga. I know that my life in the future depends on my yoga practice.

The practice of 45 minutes of yoga is how to greet each day, every day. It strengthens the muscles and is favorable for my body and mind, allowing my spirit to breathe. Yes, there are many other ways to exercise the body, but in my opinion, none is as complete as yoga.

If you go to the gym (which is not an option for me), you are still doing something for yourself, for your body and your mind. You may be tired later, but you will be forcing yourself to say, "I did something good for myself and my best friend"

Your body is your best friend

Your body is your best friend and partner of this fabulous journey that is life. This also needs to be loaded. Therefore, we should not always say, "We have no time" because that is a lie. Not having time is a poor excuse that prevents you from feeling better and living longer. And I am the living test.

Keep it active

I also love to jump the rope in the mornings. I believe that this practice stimulates my entire body and I would rather die than lose a single day of this. The secret is to start slowly and jump for a minute, then two and so on. Finally, if you are someone committed, you will go for a total of six minutes, like me. I assure you that it will surprise you as an aid in improving physical endurance.

Do not listen to someone who tells you that jumping rope can be harmful to your body. I have been skipping the rope for two years and I have had absolutely no pain. Imagine what it can do for your cardiovascular system, helping you pump blood and oxygen to the heart and lungs. Do not deny yourself pleasure, you just have to give it a try, I guarantee that it can help you achieve a longer and healthier life.

Happiness can help you live longer

For me, both yoga and tango and skipping rope are a fantastic trio. It has never been only one thing that changed my life, but rather, to continue finding new ways to improve the incredible journey and I have been searching for 92 years.

At birth they gave you an incredible instrument, that instrument is your body. He is the only one you can get in this life, you must love him that way, with respect and honor . Listen to him, he has a voice and wants to be heard. You must pay attention and be aware of all the possibilities that are presented to you. I am more aware than ever, but that wisdom comes with time and practice.

When you spend many years loving what you do, you will find that you are more open to all the opportunities that are waiting for you out there. You are the essence of life . We are all one person, differently.

I love what I do and this is a way of loving oneself. Take this advice from me, the usual practice of yoga is the key to a long and healthy life. It is worth every breath you take. And while you're doing that, don't forget to have fun, because reaching longevity without being happy makes no sense.
