A great wave of creativity and hope that starts with Social & Social

  • 2013

Demonstrate that it can be done, that even in these complicated moments it is possible to launch projects that improve not only our personal situation, but that of our entire environment. This will be the objective of Social & Social: Economy for people 2.0, the new event of the Social & Social platform, dedicated to the dissemination and dynamization of alternatives for social change and citizen empowerment. Today the final list of speakers for this day is presented.

Espacio Pozas 14 of the Red Cross (Calle de las Pozas, number 14, Madrid) will be the headquarters of Social & Social: Economy for people 2.0, which will take place on February 22. The event will last about three hours (between 11 and 14 hours) and the entrance to it does not require prior registration. It is free until the available capacity is calculated, estimated at about 80 people.

Social & Social: Economy for people 2.0 is also the first of three new Social & Social events (the other two will take place in the months of March and April, respectively) convened with the intention of transmitting a clear message to society: “Yes you can. Despite the crisis, we can undertake a project that helps us sustain ourselves economically and grow as people, while helping others grow. We are going to show many success stories that prove it, ”says Daniel Jiménez, Social & Social Communication Manager.

With these three events, it is about launching a great social wave of creativity and hope that stimulates the emergence of new initiatives born under this premise of “growing helping to grow”. This great positive social wave will be the one that triggers, from May, the second phase of Social & Social.

According to Jiménez: “In May we will convene a new event, in this case two days long, which will take up a whole weekend. It will be a networked work space led by experts in implementing alternative business models and projects. They are experts accustomed to working with people with few or no starting resources to undertake. Despite this, they have been able to help many people trust and initiate projects that have prospered. And this is also our next goal. We want each of the attendees to leave the May event with a business plan and a clear idea of how to start under the arm. ”

All this without any economic cost for the attendees, since Social & Social is only financed through the sponsorships of companies and entities that share the core values of the platform.

Another way of financing is through solidarity donations. In this sense, Social & Social has already launched a group on the Teaming platform, which allows anyone who wants to allocate one euro per month to this initiative.

Final staff of speakers

Today the final list of speakers for this new Social & Social event: Economy for people 2.0 has been closed. These will be the interventions planned throughout the day in the Pozas 14 Space, and in the order in which they appear below. Each speaker will have about ten minutes to convey his message:

-Juan Cruz, psychologist of Emotionally Intelligent Optimism, dedicated to the motivation of human groups for social change through a positive attitude and transforming the environment from ourselves.

-Gabriel B. Venegas, social entrepreneur. After losing his job in 2008, he decided to create a social enterprise. Thus, in May 2009, his magazine Tateiju Spain Immigrant Guide (TEGI) was born, whose purpose is to favor the sociocultural integration of the immigrant in the host society.

Subsequently, the project continued to grow until it became TEGI - Social Media. Focusing since then to strengthen and promote four axes: social entrepreneurship, training, employment and entrepreneurs. Apart from the website, it currently has an online radio, with the TEGIRecords social record label and a social publisher.

-Cristan Hormazábal, author of the so-called "Economics of Value", a concept he develops within his company IOS Projects. Hormazábal advises entrepreneurs who want to start up businesses even though they have virtually no funding for it. Its reasoning is very simple: it is possible to launch a project with little or no investment because, even if you don't have money, you do have other resources (experience, training, support networks, etc.) that you can mobilize.

-Miguel Ángel Martín Crespo, social entrepreneur and CEO of Comproyecto.com, the world's first crowdeverything platform. A jump from crowdfunding (search for collective donations to launch a project) to a total “crowd” that allows you to find any type of resource or help that is needed to start a particular project.

-Raúl Contreras, from the Nittúa social innovation platform. He will tell us about his project Okonomía, a Popular School of Economics that will be dedicated to the training of people in economic matters. Okonomía pursues the empowerment of people in the face of the economic system based on the collective creation of knowledge and the solidarity economy. The methodology, inspired by the pedagogy of Paulo Freire, allows people to build knowledge from their realities and needs.

-Graham Forrest, from tgl Spain. It is an international project that aims to promote citizen empowerment through social economy, education and the media. The initiative, which has its own social currency, is currently taking its first steps, but it already has a presence in the United Kingdom, Spain and Brazil, and soon in more countries.

Social & Social: Economy for people 2.0 will be presented and led by Isabel García, founder of the Caras de la Información portal, dedicated to supporting entrepreneurship in all areas, from a respectful approach to human rights and paying special attention to social entrepreneurship, to young talents and new trends and trends that seek to achieve a better world in both Spain and Latin America.
