Below is a translation of item No. 1 of Anna Bonus Kingsford's Dreams and Dream-Stories. One of his dreams is translated here: In relation to the three veils between man and God in English: Concerning The Three Veils Between Man And God.

This dream has three parts: in the first one it refers to the claim of heaven against those who, believing to venerate God, venerate their symbols. In the second part, those who worship human figures are criticized and in the third part, we are told that it is not enough to recognize God, that we have created three veils that prevent his light from reaching us and we have to remove those veils.

With this work we begin to translate and interpret the work of Anna Bonus Kingsford.

Dream: In relation to the three veils between God and man

First part

He will destroy all idols!

A golden chalice, like those used in Catholic rites, but covered by three wraps, was given to me in my dream by an Angel.

These decks, he told me, mean the three degrees of heaven: purity of life, purity of heart and purity of doctrine.

A golden chalice

Immediately afterwards, a large roofed temple with a dome appeared in Muslim style. In the portal, there was an angel poured in white linen. Who with the air of command led a group of men determined to destroy and buzz numerous crucifixes, bibles, prayer books, altar utensils and other sacred emblems.

While observing, scandalized by the obvious sacrilege, a voice, from the heights of the air, shouted with overwhelming clarity of:

He will destroy all idols!

Then, the same voice, which seemed to rise even higher, shouted at me:

"Come here and watch."

The angel with the air of command led a group of men determined to destroy.

Second part

Get on your feet, revere only God!

It immediately seemed to me that the angel was lifting me by the hair on the ground.

It seemed to me that the Angel was lifting me by the hair on the ground.

Suddenly the appearance of a man of majestic appearance, adorned with the old one and surrounded by a multitude of prostrate worshipers arose in the middle of the air .

At first, I was surprised at this figure, but as I looked at her carefully, her face and dress changed and I recognized Buddha - the messiah of India.

But I barely convinced myself of this, a voice, as if they were a thousand voices shouting at the time, recriminated the worshipers.

Get up on your feet - revere only God!

Again the figure changed, as if a cloud had passed before and now seemed to assume the form of Jesus . Again I saw the kneeling worshipers and, again, the powerful voice cried out:

Get up! Worship only God!

The sound of this voice looked like thunder and I noticed that it had seven echoes. The shout echoed seven times, ascending with each repetition as if rising from sphere to sphere.

Third part

Shine, O Lord God!

Then, suddenly, I fell through the air, as if a hand had stopped holding me, and again I touched down.

I was inside the temple that I had seen in the first part of my vision.

To the east side was a large altar, from above and behind came a beautiful white light, but faded. Its glow was slowed and obscured by a dark curtain hanging from the dome in front of the altar.

The body of the temple that, if not for the curtain, would have been illuminated, was submerged in the gloom, broken only by the intermittent brightness of the half-extinguished oil lamps that hung here and there from the vast dome.

On the right of the altar stood the same Angel who had seen before at the temple door.

He had in his hand a smoking censer. Then, realizing that he was staring at me, I said:

“Tell me, what is that curtain that hinders the light and why is the temple in the dark?

And he answered me,

“This veil is not one but three and they are Blood, Idolatry and the Curse of Eve. You have the power to remove them; Be reliable and have courage. The time has come".

The veils prevent the passage of light. You have the power to remove them; Be reliable and have courage. The time has come".

The first curtain was red and very heavy, with great effort I put it aside and said:

“I removed the veil from the blood of Your Face. Shine, oh lord God! ”

But a voice behind the two decks answered me:

"I can't shine because of idols."

There, in front of me. it was a curtain of many colors, woven with all kinds of images, crucifixes, madonas, Old and New Testaments, prayer books, and other religious symbols, some strange and terrible like the idols of China and Japan, some beautiful like the Greeks And the Christians.

The weight of the curtain looked like lead because it was interwoven with gold and silver.

With both hands I took it off and shouted

“I have removed the idols that hid your Face. Shine, O Lord God. "

Now, the light was clearer and brighter, but, in front of me, hung a third veil, all black . On it was drawn the figure of four lilacs on a single inverted stem; their glasses opened down.

Behind this veil the voice answered me again,

" I can't shine because of Eva's curse."

Then I used all my strength and with great will I pulled the curtain, screaming, }

“I already removed Eva's curse in front of You. Shine, O Lord God! ”

Now there is no more veil, but a landscape, more glorious and perfect than words can express. A garden of absolute beauty, filled with palm trees, olive groves and fig trees, rivers of clear water and tender green meadow; and groves and distant forests, surrounded by snow-capped mountains; and on top of its bright peaks, a rising sun. Whose light was what he had seen behind the veil.

And around the sun, in the air, white and vaporous forms of large angels floated, like clouds in the morning that sail over the site of dawn. And below, under a leafy cedar tree, is a white elephant, carrying in its golden houdah a beautiful woman dressed as a queen and with her crown.

But while looking, delighted and wishing to look forever, the garden, the altar and the temple were taken, far from me, to the sky.

When he looked up, the voice returned, first in the air, coming down to the ground while listening. And look, in front of me appeared the white pinnacle of a minaret, and around and below it, the sky was all gold and red with the glory of the sun rising. And I realized that now the voice was that of a lonely Muezzin who remained on the minaret and raising his hands, shouted

Take away your blood!

Destroy the idols!

Restore your Queen!

Immediately a voice, like that of an infinite crowd, coming from above, from the surroundings and under my feet a voice like a breeze rising from the caverns, under the hills to the highest and distant heights, to the stars, he replied:

Worship only God!

Interpretation of the dream the three veils between Man and God .

Interpretation of the first part

.

The number three will be repeated throughout the dream. It tells us that the chalice has three layers. These are: purity of life, purity of heart and purity of doctrine.

We can say that we all have a chalice with three decks: a) our life or capacity for perception that must learn to develop sensitivity, b) our heart or our ability to develop love and c) our mind that must learn to think.

Then a sacrilege is observed: In a Muslim-style temple, symbols of all religions are destroyed. All the emblems that are so sacred to us were being torn apart.

The most amazing thing for those who observe is that all this has the approval of a voice that says from the heights:

He will destroy all idols!

The important thing is that these idols are not external. The idols that must be destroyed are our own limitations .

Destroying these idols implies developing sensitivity, learning to love and learning to think.

A symbol must be useful to remind us of the essential, not to believe that the symbol is the essential.

A person who keeps a dirty paper just because he has a sacred image has confused the idea that that image should convey with the paper itself. However, if we look at the story, everything happens. Even works of art degrade. What does not degrade is the idea that the artist wanted to convey.

Interpretation of the second part

In the second part, we separate ourselves from the earth and are taken to the heights.

There, the most adored beings like Buddha or Jesus make a claim to their followers.

They have confused their respective churches with God. God is above any religion. This part ends with a reference to seven spheres. The voice not only tells its followers that they should not prostrate themselves before any human figure, but tells them what they should do:

Get up! Worship only God. ”

He says they should not remain prostrate, even before God. It says get up! The destiny of man is not humiliated. It is to rise to God.

Interpretation of the third part

In this part he returns to number three. Perhaps the most important thing is that man is reminded that God is always there, that it is the human being who has separated and who has put the veils that prevent him from seeing the truth. He also says that it is we who have to remove those veils with confidence and courage.

The time has come!

The veils we have to remove are Blood, Idolatry and the Curse of Eve.

If we remember, in the first part we talk about purity of life, purity of heart and purity of doctrine.

The purity of life also refers to not killing and procreating without lust,

Purity of heart refers us to love God and our neighbor and ourselves. At no time does it tell us to impose our image of God on our neighbor . Nor does it say that God is better represented in an image, than in our neighbor or in ourselves. That it is worth venerating an image, if we do not recognize that within us we can discover the essence of life . The third veil refers to the curse of Eve.

Eva's curse: here it is implied that just as bloodshed and idol worship must end, Eva's curse must also end, which among other things indicates that she is a slave to man.

Eva represents our soul that instead of looking up has been tied to what enslaves her.

If we continue with the idea of the veils in this dream. We have put those veils on us, men and women and we can only remove them.

The Angel is not going to remove it. The Angel can only guide us. The effort is given by everyone. Eva's curse is to interpret everything in a materialistic sense and believe that our duty is to enslave everything we have around us and, at the same time, be slaves to everything we cannot control.

God is not limited by veils. It is we who cannot see the light because we have placed three veils to feel safe in our cavern or our church or in our society. Once we have removed the veils, we can see the light and be in a paradise where our soul is the queen who is crowned on an elephant.

This paradise where our soul has regained its crown, rises to the celestial world.

However, as Schopenhauer said, referring to music. Music takes us to the highest spheres and we would like to stay there, but we have to return to the world of everyday life. But it is not the same, because now there is more light, more knowledge and we know our duty better. Every day, in every hour, in each place we will remember our work of removing the three veils.

We must remove the three veils between us and God:

Keep your blood away

Destroy the idols

Restore your queen

l

And the most essential:

Worship only God!
