“I cannot tell you any spiritual truth that in the depths of your being you do not know. All I can do is remind you of what you have forgotten. ”

- Eckhart Tolle

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin already said: ' We are spiritual beings living a human experience '. And this phrase resonates within us, because somehow we are sure of the truth that manifests itself in it.

However, since that human experience begins, we are fascinated by the senses and become our main source of information about the world and ourselves. In that way, all the information we know by default at birth is relegated to oblivion, and surpassed by the things we live throughout our lives.

If we are spiritual beings living a human experience, how do we forget our essence, what happens in the middle, and how do we meet again with ourselves?

The role of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, reminding us of where we came from and what is the truth behind what we experience becomes fundamental. But who is this enlightened teacher ? What leads him to make that observation?

Stay with us, as we introduce ourselves to the truth behind this phrase as recognized as true.

Who is Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, author of the phrase 'we are spiritual beings living a human experience ', was a Jesuit priest born in the commune of Orcines, in the province of Auvergne, France, in 1881. At a very early age, the influence of his Parents would have a fundamental role in their development. His father, a naturalist and collector of stones, plants and insects would inherit his passion for nature, and his mother's religiosity would be fundamental to the awakening of his spirituality .

His greed for knowledge is evidenced by his studies. Throughout his life, Pierre obtains several degrees in theology, philosophy, mathematics, literature, zoology, botany and geology.

In 1914 he was summoned to serve as a stretcher in the First World War, which is worth numerous awards for its value. On this experience, he writes in his diaries: ' War is an encounter [...] with The Absolute '.

Synthesizing his knowledge in different areas, he writes his books ' The Cosmic Life ', ' The Spirit of the Earth ', ' The Phenomenon of the Spirit ', ' The Human Energy ' and ' The Spiritual Energy of Suffering ', among others. Needless to say, by then, several of his works were banned by the Catholic Church, which came to consider it a threat to the Doctrine of the Faith . This would not recognize the value of his work until after his death, which occurs following a cardiac arrest on Easter Sunday, as curiously he had predicted his friends.

Spiritual beings living a human experience

We are, then, spiritual beings, that is not new. But it is the human experience that baffles us. For it seems to point out that what is not a spirit is not necessary, but that it is marked by contingency.

However, this idea should not surprise us either, because we know that matter is transitory, it is temporarily limited and at one point it is inclined towards decay until its inevitable end. It is, therefore, only a vehicle that comes with an expiration date.

To affirm that we are spiritual beings living a human experience invites us to seek the true nature of our existence, beyond our physical bonds. Well, everything else is temporary, it is momentary. But our essence is not.

But this matter that composes us and that allows us to experience human life, has limitations that go beyond the temporal. And it is equipped with many tools to make the matter itself subsist. Thought and senses confuse us, and do not allow us to know and explore the truth if we do not first recognize its limitations, and understand that no matter how real it may seem what we perceive, reality is skewed by our limited ability to understand.

Why do we get lost on the road

Being spiritual beings living a human experience is not an easy task. Worldly worries are many and very noisy, and constantly tempt us to abandon your spiritual side. They distract us from what we really came into the world to do, and we end up forgetting who we are. Thoughts fascinate us, and we end up giving them too much credit.

When we forget our own spiritual essence, we are condemned to wander our entire lives seeking to fill that void. And what the world has to offer us is not always the best option. Money, vices, power, are some of the most common places where we fall in these cases. But each of them is accompanied by large amounts of anxiety, frustration, nonsense, lack of motivation. The disconnection consumes us and contaminates us, and this manifests itself especially in the moments when the noise ceases and we find ourselves alone and in silence. In those moments, the spirit knocks on the door, to ask you what you are doing.

And it is that inside, our need to preserve this essence throughout the entire trip is paramount. As spiritual beings living a human experience we must meet again with our center, with the energy that guides our spirit and in this way achieve stabilization and live this life experience as it really is.

The body has sufferings that the spirit does not have.

How to meet again with our spiritual side

We know that as spiritual beings living a human experience we often fail to connect with our primordial essence. And that becomes the search of our whole life. But, like every search, it is a matter of being attentive.

We must allow ourselves to get in touch with ourselves . Turn off the cell phone, television and other distractions and feel our body, the vehicle that has to take us throughout the experience. Perceive the breath, and the different sensations that are happening in the present moment . And it is through the present moment, coming into contact with ourselves that we can come to remember ourselves as infinite beings, something we know intuitively but leave forgotten. Through recognizing our sensitive life as a manifestation of spiritual beings living a human experience, we can embrace our true nature. Not through thought.

By witnessing the present moment directly, through our body, our thinking is set aside and our ego disappears. We are that energy that flows in our spirit. Allow yourself to use your feelings as a portal. Listen to them.

We must stop fleeing from silence and loneliness, and embrace them. Take advantage of those moments to find our spiritual essence where it is lagging behind: within us. The present moment cannot be translated into thoughts or concepts. It is not something we can elaborate to be able to chat with friends, nor a place we should reach.

The present is something we are, something we are immersed in, and when we intend to express it with thoughts or words, we separate it from ourselves, it becomes a possession, a goal.

The present is experienced through the body, not with it. Through the heartbeat, intuition and sensations. Thought fulfills other important functions in our life, but it is not the way to recognize ourselves as spiritual beings living a human experience.

Pay attention. Close your eyes. What sensations are the ones that wake up in your body?
