Quiron- Archetype of Wounded and Healer The Legend

The myth of Quiron

When he was born, his father never knew and didn't even care. His mother uttered a cry of horror and rejected him as soon as he saw her monstrous image, which is why the indignant Gods, or pitying her, transformed her into a beautiful Linden near the cave in where she gave birth, and that grows on the dark slopes of Mount Pelion, to bring comfort and serenity to men.

He was immortal and son of Gods. He was a brother of the God of the Gods, of Zeus, and a being endowed with supreme understanding who was the Master of the Heroes and the children of the other Gods. He was the one who taught Aesculapius the Royal Art of medicine, the art of hunting and the handling of weapons to the very Goddess Artemis, and who educated the minds and spirits of Hercules, Achilles, Ayax, Jason and many others. He, who took Apollo himself as the adoptive father, raised and educated many as his own children. He, of whom today we can see his image by pointing his arrow to the center of the galaxy there, at the top of the sky. Chiron is his name, the name of the one who is not a man, or a horse, even a Centaur like anyone (some demented and hellish beasts far below man and the animals themselves, and no, Chiron is not like that). I'm going to talk about him, and tell his story ...

Cronos tries to seduce the beautiful nymph Filira, her niece (daughter of Ocean and Tethys), but is systematically rejected by the girl. Cronos, blinded by desire, pursues her for heaven and earth. But Filira, in her flight, becomes a mare (a trick she learned from Demeter, mother of the centaurs) but Cronos, who did not have silly hair, metamorphoses into a horse and chases her until she reaches him. When he does, even both maintaining their equine form, furiously they surrender to the sexual act after which Cronos escapes and every trace is lost among the forest. Filira, pregnant, knowing the love of Cronos to devour her own children, decides to take refuge in a cave of Mount Pelion to give birth. The birth was laborious, painful, difficult, since the baby's physical structure was not normal: body and legs of horse, torso, head and arms of God incarnate (anthropomorphic). His mother, seeing the ugliness of her son, leaves him and runs away desperately imploring the gods, who turn her into a linden tree, a prison preferable to the memory of the fruit of her unmanaged instinct.

Chiron abandoned by his parents, is adopted by Apollo and Athena, images of reason and logos, and raised and educated by them. Reason why, its character is not at all like that of the rest of the Centaurs. This is how Chiron lives practically alone, taking refuge in the cave that saw him born, studying various arts and developing a lot of knowledge. He was an astrologer, mathematician, expert hunter and master of weapons, musician, philosopher and sage of great renown. Such was his worth, that most of the sons of the gods had him as teacher and guardian, as well as the great heroes. One of his favorite disciples was Heracles (also known as Hercules), who is a relevant figure in the history of Chiron himself. Accidentally at a party, a dart of his hit Chiron on one of his legs (on one knee to be more precise), and Heracles, embarrassed, tried to stop its effects, but it was too late, the poor old man was writhing before the more and more acute pain of his wound, the one that would have ended the life of any mortal. But the wise centaur was immortal, with which he only managed to have a wound always suffering and that would never heal. Due to this unfortunate act, Chiron became a master in the Art of healing, since he experimented with everything that existed both in heaven and on earth in order to get a cure, and later transferred that knowledge to another of his disciples called Asclepius, better known as Aesculapius (Father of medical science, according to the Greeks), and he also used such knowledge to cure innumerable characters of antiquity.

One day, this wise centaur was walking and discovered a terrible spectacle: A human being was chained to a rock suffering a horrible punishment by mandate of the gods. His name was Prometheus, and for having challenged the gods and stolen the divine fire to deliver to men, he was condemned to remain chained to the rock while during the day an eagle devoured his liver, while at night the organ returned to grow ... and so it would happen until another volunteered to take his place. Seeing this, and sensitized by the pain that the poor human had to endure, Chiron offered to change his own immortality for the life of the condemned. Prometheus was released, and at the moment the Centaur became mortal, and because of his mortal wound, Chiron died. His brother Zeus, in gratitude for the many services he had rendered to the gods, returned immortality by transforming his body into stars and, spreading them across the sky, he created the constellation of the Centaur.

So far, a summary of the myth, which varies between several versions of it, but which structurally refer to the same. Now let's approach the meaning of this archetype in the matrix of a natal chart to give us an idea of its possible structuring in the psyche of the individual.

CHIRON IN THE NATURAL LETTER

Chiron represents the things we can do very well for others, but that we are not able to do for ourselves. It also indicates qualities that others perceive very well in us, but that we do not recognize, despite how much we may need them.

Through its situation, three fundamental unconscious or projected figures on others can be analyzed: The wounded, The wounded and The healer or savior.

Describe the guidelines that have remained unsolved, attitudes that continuously produce pain, with some risk that the person becomes obsessed with ideas, beliefs or purposes that hide their internal pain, trying to convince others of those truths to be able to convince themselves to herself. Chiron will require us to recognize that we are hurt as a previous step to healing, underlining the wisdom inherent in our own psyche.

Chiron in a letter shows where we are likely to carry out with particular intensity the search for our inner shaman, for our inner source of wisdom, strength and energy, as means of personal revelation and progressive disintegration of archaic structures that limit growth.

It can also indicate an area of experience where we have a special difficulty, a blockage or a wound, a sector of our life that does not work well. The pain and frustration experienced may force us to deepen ourselves in search of our healing; This path may be described by the birth sign of Chiron. The planets in aspect with Chiron, will indicate the possibilities to correctly interpret the available energies that reign on the board of this peculiar energy game.

A positive expression of Chiron at any location tells us where we can make a unique and individual contribution to the process of collective evolution.

Chiron stimulates the process of initiation of the search, towards the development of the individual without his continuous pains, through a psychological rebirth and transforming for it normally our pre-established concepts of reality. The greater the pain or blockage, the greater the Transpersonal experience required for the transmutation of one's wounds, with death being the last term representative of the required regeneration. Death that we will be required to give in life to these concepts or attitudes that, despite the pain that causes us to maintain them, we resist leaving them for the false sense of security they give us.

Chiron demands that we balance our materialistic, dynamic and impulsive being with the other more religious or spiritual part.

The position by house and sign of Chiron indicates the type of injury that the subject may have, or the type of blockage, while indicating the way in which said person is 'bandaged' the wound, covers it or covers it emotionally to avoid pain, resentment, the feeling of helplessness or being unprotected, that is, what causes pain.

All human beings are modern centaurs, a polarization to resolve between body and mind to bring to fruition the continuous construction of our inner deity that constitutes our own true being. We all have something to heal in ourselves, and we must not forget that healing happens by recognizing and transcending that within us that hurts us, such as mental attitudes too strict or encased, which are only destructive thoughts that limit our innate creativity and our deepest ability to feel.
