Runes are tools used for divination and the opening of psychic consciousness. They are a set of 24 tiles that contain primitive sculptures of characters or letters.
Like the Tarot or I-Ching, runes can be used to obtain messages and spiritual insight. Although it is not as well known as some divinatory methods, by using these tools you can provide one more alternative to converse with your Higher Self and the Universe .
Rune History
The Runes actually come from the letters of the first Germanic alphabets . Many northern European countries use these runic alphabets in the first centuries until the adoption of the lati no alphabet . The origin of the word rune is believed to come from an old European word "ru", which means secret, as well as the old Germanic word "rune", which means whisper.

There were several versions of the runic alphabet, with variations between the different areas, such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Anglo-Saxon areas of the British Isles . The runic symbols used for divination purposes were derived from the Futhark runic alphabet used between 150 and 800 AD.
Futhark's name came from the initial letters of his alphabet: F, U, Th, A, R, K. It is similar to our reference to the alphabet as A, B, C.
A modern rune set includes the 24 letters of the Futhark and a blank token. The white tile is known as the Wryd or Odin. This is in homage to the ancient Norse god Odin who is credited with giving away the alphabet and his wisdom for his people.
Use
These tools were originally used for writing among the ancient northern Europeans. Even today his remains can be seen as inscriptions on large stone markers throughout Sweden and other parts of Scandinavia.
While it is known today for divination, there is little evidence that the runes were used for magical purposes during the centuries AD. Reference is made to his power in the old tales and poems about the mystical god Odin, but not much else. The reading

Some popular differentials include the rune alone, the Norns (past, present, future), the diamond, the cross, the circle and the Wyrd Well. Each sheet focuses on a different type of reading or understanding.
Individual reading of the rune helps answer a simple question. The Norns refer to three sisters in Norse mythology who decided the fate of humanity. This reading focuses on the past, present and future . Diamond reading refers to the shape of the spread and is good for getting an idea of the immediate results.
The spread of the Cross is also named for its form and is more of a way of life reading. The reading of the circle speaks of romantic energies between two people. Finally, the Well of Wyrd comes from Norse mythology. The tree of life receives its water from this well and where it was said that Odin discovered the Runes. This reading is quite complex to give an idea of many questions and possible destinations.
The symbols
The 24 symbols of each have a particular meaning and interpretation. Most of the rune sets come with a booklet that contains the descriptions of each character. There are also rune books available that give detailed meanings and interpretations. Here are the sample descriptions of the first letters or symbols of the Futhark:
F - FEHU, MEANS WEALTH, ABUNDANCE AND SUCCESS.
T - URUZ, THAT IS, POWER AND FORCE.
TH - THURIZAS, MEANS FORCE, DEFENSE, POTENTIAL CONFLICT.
A - ANSUZ, THAT IS, MAGIC, CREATIVE ENERGY AND WISDOM.
R - RAIDHO, WHICH REFERS TO A TRIP.
K - CENEZ, THAT SYMBOLIZES LIGHTING, TRANSFORMING ENERGY.
