Brief history of natural technique

Since the time of Hippocrates, doctors have recommended the use of the elements of the sea to promote good health . But it was during the Middle Ages in Europe that the use of natural elements for medical and hygienic purposes was discredited.

It was Enrique III, king of France, who began again to use treatments with marine elements on the recommendation of his doctor, Ambrosio Paré. This doctor believed that sea baths were toning and had astringent, antipiogenic and resolutive effects, among others.

But it was the Englishman Richard Russell who wrote in the year 1760 a manual on thalassotherapy entitled " The use of seawater in diseases of the glands ", based on his observations on the health of children living in coastal towns.

Russell's book was very successful, and this doctor was called to the service of the British royal family. The interest of the monarchy helped the marine priests to acquire great popularity, in Great Britain and throughout Europe at first and then throughout the world.

In the early twentieth century, Dr. Ceresole founded in Venice the first institute of studies on the influence of seawater on healthy and sick man. And in 1913 the International Thalassotherapy Association is established in France. It has been and it is this country that has spread these therapies and has the most Thalassotherapy Centers in the world.

What do you think of this natural technique? Undoubtedly, alternative therapies are excellent, and seawater can be a great ally of health.
