Meaning

Om has no literal meaning and its origins are lost in the night of time. Om is considered to be the original sound, the sound of the universe, the sound from which all others are derived. It can be seen as the equivalent of white light, in which all the colors of the rainbow can be found. In a Sanskrit-English dictionary it says:
“A word of solemn affirmation and respectful agreement, sometimes translated as“ yes, certainly, so be it ”(and compared, in this sense, with Amen); it is placed at the beginning of most Hindu works and, as a sacred exclamation, can be pronounced at the beginning and at the end of a reading of the Vedas or before a prayer; It is also considered an auspicious salutation particle [Viva!]; Om appears at the beginning in the Upanishads as a mystical monosyllable and intends to be the subject of a deep religious meditation, whose highest spiritual efficacy is attributed not only to the word as a whole, but also to the three sounds that compose it: A, U, M ”.
Shanti, in Sanskrit, means "peace", that simple. It's a beautiful meaning and also a beautiful sound. Shanti is repeated three times, just like many songs in Buddhism. It can be interpreted as peace in body, speech and mind (that is, in our whole being) or as a desire for peace individually, collectively and universally.
It is common for Hindu teachings to end with the words Om shanti shanti shanti, as an invocation to peace. Also, the mantra is used to conclude some Buddhist devotion ceremonies

So, the sustained practice of these sounds reflects on the earth the desire of the mind focused on the common good, it is like expressing: "Be all happy beings and that my thoughts, words and actions contribute in some way to the happiness of all the beings"
This Mantra is a request for Happiness for all beings in existence. The Happiness that derives from Peace in the Silence of the Illuminated Soul. Singing this mantra is an aid to practice 'Metta Bhavana' which is the loving radiation towards all beings.
