Regards, I AM Gandhi Ji . It is an honor for me to speak with you, my friends. At another time I would have said my compatriots, but now I tell you, my planetary compatriots, or as you call yourselves these days, Gaians …. It is a very good term.
Today I come to teach you and walk with you.
It is time that those who truly believe in freedom and independence remain clear and claim their freedom and independence. And yes, I know, from the experience of an old man, that this is not always easy.
They may be declaring freedom only for themselves, for their family, or for societies that think they should have a certain behavior, or that they intend to strictly follow traditions.
Or they may be trying to free themselves with millions of people from the chains of betrayal, from the abusers of power.
Now, let me be very clear ... when I say abusers of power, I am not speaking in a mysterious code, I am not speaking in a way that makes them think they should check behind each bush and under each stone, because that is not where lies the conspiracy anyway ... it lies in the hearts of man, it lies in the soul waiting like a tiger to pounce on you and destroy you.
The conspiracy lies in the heart of man. Do not look outside.
This is one way in which human beings let themselves be manipulated ... it is because of these paper tigers and current tigers and people who say they are tigers but, in fact, when challenged they are simple kittens.
Now I know because I have walked, and I have walked a long way, and I have walked as a man, and I have walked with some, and with none. Because at first there were many who didn't want to join me or even recognize what I had to offer. Because you see, I didn't have any of the possessions that serve to offer bribes .
So, what I mean is freedom of spirit, freedom of resistance, of not being coerced and of not being allowed to be coerced in any way.
Where there is tyranny, it must be identified and resisted .
In our situation, and for the first time, it was the British.
Do you really believe there was a massive conspiracy against the British? Do not.
Do you really believe that my work resulted in the British evacuation and the return of India to India? No, they simply got tired of continuing on a path that was abusive and authoritarian and did not recognize the dignity of each person, regardless of their caste or creed.
And so, they left. They left and maintained their dignity, which, when working with an adversary, is very important to maintain dignity. In this way, they do not have to continue with their role of abuse or feel that they have to be defensive in order to retire.
When working with an adversary it is important to maintain dignity.
My heart broke when we couldn't find a point in common, an intermediate path for Hindus and Muslims. There was a lot of violence and a lot of hate. And see, I talk about this because, among all the people who emigrated - about fifteen million - there were always accusations of banditry, abuse and rape, murderers and many thieves.
But the truth is that they were individuals and families, they were small children and babies, mothers and grandmothers, fathers and children trying to find a place on this planet where they were free, where were safe, where they could pursue, not only their religious beliefs, but also their dreams without fear of reprisals, without fear of interference.
Every person on this planet has the right given by God to a place where they can express their religion, and exercise their trade, and protect their family, and live in happiness, that they are allowed to turn their dreams into some form of reality and it is different for everyone.
It does not need to result in bloodshed.
It does not have to give rise to hate.
And my hope is that after seventy or eighty years, humanity has learned something about the desire to be free and about the compassionate ways of achieving it.
Every person on this planet has the right given by God to a place where he can express his religion, and exercise his trade, and protect his family, and live in happiness.
Resist those who tell you that freedom is not possible, that you do not have an inalienable right, not as dictated by governments, but as dictated by the human spirit .
That they do not have the freedom to pursue what they know is fair and what they know is right.
And in justice, justice is divinely orchestrated ... I was a lawyer, you know, and I practiced in many, many places ... it is not the legality of the courts and rulers, it is the knowledge of justice .
So I say yes, practice resistance . But if they practice resistance in silence, nobody knows what they are resisting.
So, my friends, it is important to speak, to allow the truth of your heart to be known . This is what I ask you, not only in meditation, but in everyday life.
You are the forerunner of the future; I am nothing more than an old man who speaks from the past, but I have this perspective that I want to share.
