Relationship and attachment, by Krishnamurti

The relationship is the path to self-knowledge. In our life there are always relationships. But in most cases the relationship instead of joining us isolates us even more from others, that isolation will inevitably breed all kinds of misfortunes, confusion, hate, anger.

Isolation is the result of looking at things from the wrong angle. Conflict in the relationship can serve to improve us. It is not possible to have a relationship without conflict, until we change ourselves much. The relationship is the mirror in which we see ourselves as we are. Life is, in its entirety, a relationship movement.

The desire for stability and attachment with its corresponding pain and pleasure, anxiety and fear, is not love. When that desire and attachment are totally and absolutely absent, then there is love, not before.

In 1985 Krishnamurti made these interesting reflections on how to learn from relationships. About how relationships work like a mirror. Reflections that decades later are still perfectly current. We attach the videos of these conferences with subtitles.
