The story of the 5-second rule begins when its author, Mel Robbins, was in the worst moment of her life . Unemployed mother, with debts to pay, and with a depression that prevented her from getting out of bed every day. She simply could not, she felt sorry for herself, slept 12 hours a day and got up totally unmotivated and sad. Her husband had a small business that generated more debts than profits, and had to declare bankruptcy. They were on the verge of being in the street. And about to lose everything they had worked for all their lives. As a result of economic problems, the relationship with her husband weakened every day, they argued for everything and it seemed that they would never be the same.

One day her children did not go to school because she did not wake them up. At that moment it hit bottom. That moment he realized that he had to change urgently . He realized that she could be better. And there it was from the deepest despair that the 5 second rule developed .

Mel swore that when the alarm rang in the morning, he would run the sheets and get up within the first 5 seconds. And so he did.

The 5 second rule is synonymous with Putting into action.

She realized that in her depression, reluctance and pity for herself, she knew exactly what she had to do: that she had to get up early, prepare breakfast, raise her children, take them to school, clean the house, and look for a job!

And he was also very clear why he should do it: to be able to pay the mortgage, the car credit, the bills and the food. It was very clear.

But ... why didn't he? Here his two maxims were born:

Knowing what you have to do is not enough

Knowing why you have to do it is not enough

Unfortunately, he discovered that motivation will not come, you will never feel like it!

If you don't start doing the things you don't feel like doing, you'll wake up in a year in exactly the same place. Mel Robbins

As you will never feel like it, you must act the same .

The definition of the 5 second rule is:

If you have an impulse to act or a goal, you must move physically within the next 5 seconds or your brain will kill the idea. You must do something physical. It will not happen in your mind, it will not materialize if you leave it as an idea.

For example, if you want to achieve a promotion at work, at the next meeting you attend, raise your hand and propose your idea. It brings something positive.

If your goal is to lose weight at the time you are about to buy a candy, do not do it, go to the fruit section and buy an apple or the fruit you like.

If you want to launch your own business, NOW go to Google and find out how you can do it and start contacting people, courses, resources, whatever you need.

When you move, your brain begins to create a new habit.

Mel calls it activation energy.

I propose this challenge: tomorrow, set the alarm 30 minutes earlier than you usually do. And as soon as it sounds, get out of the comfort of your bed, take out the sheets and feel the cool of the morning, feel the discomfort and get up. You can take the opportunity to do something you have been postponing, writing, reading or doing a yoga routine.

The soul needs to explore

Get out of the head.

Get out of emotions.

Leave the comfort zone.

You feel the urge to talk to someone, do it.

You feel the urge to start a new activity, do it.

Practice as soon as you have the opportunity, when you have the momentum, do it!

What do you think of the 5 second rule? Do you think it could help you?
