Report of the World Day of Meditation and Prayer for Peace, by Ervin Laszlo

MORE THAN A MILLION PEOPLE MEET TO HEAL HUMANITY

The First Day of Meditation / Prayer for Peace shows the Power of
Awakening of Consciousness and brings renewed hope for a better world

* On Saturday May 20, about one million people participated in the
First Global Day of Meditation-Prayer for Peace on five continents.
This was the first time in the history of mankind. I never know before
they had gathered so many people in so many countries, from so many cultures and
religions, to direct the power of your meditation and your prayer towards peace
on Earth: the first true common cause of humanity.

OBJECTIVES AND IMPLEMENTATION

* The Global Day was created to reduce the level of conflict and violence in
the world, and to help create greater understanding, tolerance and decision
to live in peace with our near and far neighbors, as well as with
nature.

Numerous tests and experiments have shown that deep prayer and
Meditation can heal people, heal other species, and create peace
and harmony in human communities. This time, for the first time, the power
of prayer and meditation has been directed to the total community of beings
humans on the planet, with more than one million beings, who entered
a state of total awareness, and they gave expression to their very felt desire:
"May peace prevail on earth."

The meditations organized on May 20, followed the same procedure
regardless of where they were made, or what
culture, faith or religion have belonged to its participants. The event started
with an initial talk, music, dances, and were followed by meditation or
prayer guided by some spiritual master. He finished with five minutes of
silence in which the participants, standing, holding hands
they repeated a phrase for peace, such as “that peace prevails in the
land".

The meditations or prayers lasting one hour were synchronized
to reinforce each other, and thus produce its maximum effect. The first group
of events took place at the same time in East and West Australia, and
in Japan. The second group brought people together in India, Central and South Africa,
Israel, Grace, Hungary, Germany, Italy and England. The third, hug to
Canada, the United States, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile,
as well as to Hawaii and Samoa.

The network of some seventy organized groups that registered for the Day
Global quickly emerged, to the extent that the website
obalpeacemeditationprayerday.org> * announced the event, included in a list
the data of the groups that participated and invited others to join.

The project was inspired by the "Symphony of Prayers for Peace", planned
for May 20 in the Shrine at the foot of Mount Fuji, by the group
spiritual Byakko Shinko Kai, in collaboration with the Goi Foundation for the
Peace.

In an encounter with Mrs. Masami Saionji and her husband, Hiroo Saionji,
directors of Byakko and the Goi Foundation respectively, I suggested that
We could give the event a global dimension, if prayers and meditations
similar ones joined the Fuji event.

The international committee of the Cl * ub of Budapest, * with one hundred members such as
the Dalai Lama, Mikhail Gorbachev, Elis Wiese, Vaclav Havel, Peter Gabriel, and
other Nobel Peace Prizes, created an original network of organizers and
hosts, starting with the Unity University of India, in
where 50, 000 people meditated guided by the renowned spiritual leader
Bhagavan Other leaders joined, and in a few months, an international network
of volunteers had emerged.

THE EXPERIENCE

* Reports that arrive from all over the world indicate that a
overwhelming experience, intense and full of hope. “A diffuse light by
outside of us and inside of us enveloped the meeting ... some felt
very happy, others moved, others were able to transform their suffering into
serenity…. ”(from Italy). “There was a big change when more than
10, 000 people connected at the same time, praying for a world in
peace of
Japan). “The energy we had created was deep, elegant, peaceful, and
full of love and serenity ... I'm still overwhelmed by the amazing
power that entered into me. " (from Slovenia). Who writes here can testify
the unprecedented intensity and the feeling of deep communication that
it was achieved in the final moment, by holding hands, in the "Open Temple"
in Damanhur, Italy.

THE EXPERIMENTS

* The reality of feeling the connection and communion was confirmed by a
scientific experiment carried out in Italy. The experiment is
synchronized to coincide with the meetings of Europe and Africa. Two groups
of meditators, eight of whom were in Bagni di Lucca, in Italy, and
the other eight, 200 km away in the city of Milan, were equipped with
electrodes connected to their heads, and connected to an electroencephalograph,
that mediates the electrical activity. (EEG waves) of their brains.

The measurements were synchronized at one hundred times per second through the
Global Positioning System (GPS) and were examined by correlation
Between the two groups. Since the meditators of Lucca and those of Milan do not
they were connected to each other, in no normal way, the expectation
"Normal" was that the value of the correlation would be zero.

However, it was shown that the average level of synchronization between
Two groups were 0.64% with peak points of up to 5.4%. These measurements
exclude mere luck or coincidence.

Other scientifically controlled tests were performed, testing among others
the effects of meditation on random number generators in various
parts of the world. (These tests assume the deviation from randomness in
a series of zeros and ones generated by machines: such deviations have been
checked in cases connected to meditations, and other events greater than
affect the consciousness of many people at the same time, including attacks
terrorists, wars, and sporting events) “These results are
interesting, ”writes Roger Nelson, head of the Global Consciousness Project
in charge of this experiment in Princeton, “With the cumulative deviation of
the zeros and ones, of the normal random expectation, showing a
steep slope and persistent decline during the concatenated period of
nine hours in which the large-scale organized meditation lasted. (The
expectation of cumulative deviation is at the level, it is trending
horizontal). The composite result is significant, with a score of 20 to 1,
against mere randomness, or luck.

CONCLUSIONS AND FOLLOW-UP

* The experience lived, as well as the objective results of the
Meditations and prayer on the Global Day for Peace allow us to affirm with
certainty a fact often suspected but rarely proven
scientifically: human consciousness has a real effect on people and on
the world. When many people come together to focus their conscious intention on
peace in the world, the result can be unique and significant: power
combined of your intentions can make a significant contribution
for the healing of our world and help overcome the feeling of
defenselessness and separativity which is often the matrix cause of the
Frustration, conflict and violence.

Based on the promising results of the Global Day for Peace, 2007, The
Budapest Club, The Goi Foundation for Peace, the Byakko Shinko Kai, and its
partners in the five continents provide for the continuation of meditations and
Prayers worldwide for the year 2008 and subsequent ones.

Global Events of the future will bring together not only a million but many
millions of dedicated people, to focus the power of their conscious minds
In the peace of the world.

Such a critical criticism of human beings could make a further contribution.
profound and possibly crucial towards achieving this vital objective.
