The main god of mythological mythology is Odén, also known as Wotan or Woden, and his role in the social development of the northern regions is extremely complex.

He is the god of wisdom, war and death . But he is also the god of prophecy, victory, magic and poetry.

He resides in Asgard, in the Valaskj lf Palace that he himself built and where his throne is located, the Hil skj lf. Sitting there, you can observe what happens in each of the nine worlds.

History of God Odín

When he was in battle, Odin brandished his spear called Gungnir and mounted Sleipnir, his eight-legged steed.

He was the son of Bor and the giant Bestla . Brother of Vili and Vé, husband of Frigg and father of many of the gods: Thor, Balder, Vidar and Váli.

He was the god of war and was in charge of sending the walkirias to collect the heroic warriors killed in battle, the einherjer, who next to him sit in the Valhalla from where he presides over all the banquets.

When the end of time comes, it will be Odin who will lead the other gods and all men against the forces of chaos, in the battle of the end of the world, the Ragnarök .

But in that battle the god will die and be eaten by the fierce wolf Fenrir . It will be Vidar who will kill him, tear his jaws and place a foot on his throat.

Odin himself said: "The gray wolf threatens the abode of the Gods" referring to Fenrir, who will kill him in Ragnarök, demonstrating his concern and one of the most important reasons for his mood swings.

The power of Odin

Odin was married to three women and each of them symbolized a part of the land:

  • Frigg symbolized the cultivated land and with it he had three children: Balder, Hoder and Hermod.
  • Jörd symbolized the inhabited land and with it he had Thor and Meili.
  • Ring symbolized the winter and icy land. With her he had Vali.

But his power was absolute because he was also the father of the first humans, Ask and Embla .

Odin, God of War and Knowledge

Odin always rewarded his intrepid warriors and that is why he embodies the spirit of self-improvement.

The god Odin was considered the wisest god of all and to be, he had to overcome very exhausting initiatory rites. He sacrificed his right eye so he could drink from Mimir's well and thus access universal wisdom.

It is for this reason that Odin is the god of knowledge of the past . Thanks to his two crows and his throne he can know the present and by the gift of seeing the destiny of men, which Goddess Freyia taught him, he can also know about the future.

Odin, God of Poetry and Magic

Odin drank mead of poetry and became the inspirer of all poets. He also knew the secret of the runes.

He understood any of the characters carved in wood or stone, in the blades of the swords, in the vessels of the horses and knew that they were the origin of all knowledge and of all strength.

God was terrifying to his enemies, since he was an expert in the art of transformation . He had the power to deafen, blind or cause panic in his contenders or transform simple objects such as tree branches into deadly weapons.

No one was able to throw a spear at him without stopping it just by looking at it. All his skills in war were based on Magic, which added to his knowledge of powerful spells, made him invincible and almighty.
