Baptism of Jesus

Cross the threshold. Cross the border.

A before and after.

Move from an old material life to a new spiritual life.

Leave the old man and transform into a new man.

Begin to be children of God the Father.

Become members of Christ.

Receive the Holy Spirit and be his temple.

Having a family, being part of the Church.

Father

We are invited to be children of God in the only and beloved Son. But we want to?

Do we want from the Father the Almighty Creator of Heaven and Earth?

Do we want from Father who is " Kind and Compassionate, slow to get angry and of great mercy" (Psalm 103)?

Do we want to live under the protection of the Most High that protects us from the enemy's snares?

Do we want our will not be done but that of the Father who is in Heaven?

Do we want to be heard by whoever sees and knows everything?

The Father listened to his beloved Son and gave him bread and fish in abundance, health for the sick, liberation for the demonized. He gave Heaven from home and to his right of throne.

Jesus Christ, the beloved Son

Do we want to learn from the Master who taught to love God above all things and others as himself?

Do we want to belong to Christ and be marked with an indelible spiritual seal?

Do we want to join Christ who is the Truth, the Life, the Joy, the Love and the Peace ?

Do we want to imitate the one who served and washed the feet of his followers?

Do we want to die with Christ the Lamb and rise with the Glorious Christ ?

Do we want a friend to the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world?

Do we want to be saved by the Redeemer ?

Do we want to have access to the eternal Life that Jesus gives us?

Do we believe in Jesus, in his Gospel, in the Word of God ?

Holy Spirit and water

The baptismal water is consecrated by means of a prayer of epíclesis. "The Church asks God, through his Son, the power of the Holy Spirit to descend upon this water, so that those who are baptized with it may be born from the water and the Spirit " (CCC 1238).

Do we want to be born of the water and the Holy Spirit without which "no one can enter the Kingdom of God "? (Jn 3, 5).

Do we want to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit through anointing with the holy chrism (oil consecrated by the bishop)?

Do we want to be washed and purified of all our sins?

Do we want to take a regenerative bath and bury our sin in the water?

Do we want, like Noah, to pass through the flood water and start a new life based on holiness?

Do we want to be temples, recipients, of the Spirit of God that favors us with his gifts, whispers the right word and blows where he wants?

Holy Spirit

Exorcism

Do we renounce Satan and sin?

Do we want to free ourselves from its influence of hate, pride and death?

Baptism

When we go to our baptism, or as representatives to the baptism of our children and godchildren, or when we renew our baptismal promises every year on Easter night, let us know that we are answering these questions presented here. We are choosing, once and for all, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Therefore, when we go to bed at night we can sleep in Peace, knowing that the Most High watches over and protects us in each of our steps. And that Mother Mary covers us with her mantle, comforts us in anguish and embraces us with her love.

The Risen Christ said to his apostles: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the people by baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to keep everything that I have commanded you" (Mt 28, 19 -twenty).

In Baptism the minister says "I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit" and pour water three times over the head of the candidate. From that moment we are aware that we have already answered affirmatively to all the questions explained here. The main thing, the reception of the Sacrament, has already been consummated. Throughout our lives we will have to manifest the fullness of this yes with all its power, so that when people see us walking on the street they can say “there goes a son of God”, “look at the anointed one by the Holy Spirit” . And we ourselves can say "It is no longer I who lives, it is Christ who lives in me" (Gal 2:20). And in this way we will have the certainty that our life will be prolonged in the eternal Life that Christ gave us.
