Gratitude: 4 reasons to have an attitude of gratitude

to thank

The monk and interfaith scholar David Steindl-Rast, assures us that happiness is born of gratitude. To be happy we must first be grateful, thanks are a gift : learn to value what life gives us, the little things of the present, of each moment.

Cultivating gratitude costs us neither money nor time. However, people often prefer to complain about our problems, to regret all our small and great difficulties. We pay attention to the bad that happens to us. We share with everyone who crosses us, our sorrows and pains. We look in the news where, when and why so many misfortunes occur in this world. This negative attitude brings us nothing good. The principle of the law of attraction tells us that negative thoughts attract more negative thoughts and situations, and everywhere we see the most unpleasant thing on the planet.

But, and without instead of complaining, we thank?

I am not referring to the fact of saying “ thank you ” when someone does something kind for us and we repeat the word “ thank you ” as a sign of courtesy and education, such as when they pass us the salt or give us a gift. Although we must also do it!

I refer to the thanks of the heart . When you thank, you open the door of abundance because the universe understands that you have good things in your life and is willing to give you more of the good. If you have a heart full of gratitude you will have peace and it will come more into your life.

What to be grateful for, if I have nothing but problems in my life?

Every moment of our life we have something to be grateful for : every second you inhale, and your body finds oxygen in the air around you to complete your breath and exhale ... and inhale again. It's a wonderful moment, but we don't pay attention to it.

Each dawn gives us a new opportunity. If we miss the opportunity to do something good, we have a new day that gives us another chance.

It is very beautiful to keep a thank you diary in which to write down all the little things that make you happy and grateful: the morning coffee, the aroma of freshly baked bread, the smile of the people you love, the sun or the rain Have the joy of seeing this day, the sense of hearing that allows you to enjoy music ... so many little things.

Being grateful brings us other benefits.

# 1 Increase self-esteem, because it makes us feel more positive and happy .

# 2 It generates more energy and optimism , and the advantage of learning from difficulties. This does not mean that we must deny the unpleasant things that happen in the world, but that we will put our energy and our thoughts on those things that are worth living for.

# 3 Gratitude opens the door to new relationships . Recognizing the good in other people can give us new opportunities.

# 4 Gratitude enriches the spirit, because in gratitude there is no fear, there is no violence, there is equality and respect .

Thanks for the present moment

A very beautiful way to put gratitude into practice is to stop at the moment we are living, become aware of what is happening around us, observe the situation and recognize it, and then take action. For example, we are with our mobile reviewing social networks, and a loved one is by our side doing the same. Let's stop, watch, and act . Let's put the phone aside and give it a hug, let's be aware of how lucky we are.

David Steindl-Rast tells us that the link between gratitude and happiness is indissoluble, and many times there are people who have everything to be happy and it is not because they are always wanting something else.

Thank what you have today and the universe will give you many more opportunities to give thanks to life.
