Maria Isabel Heraso Aragon was born in Madrid. I study Nurser a, a profession I practiced for several years. Simultane his work as a nurse with the studies of Medicine at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), where he obtained the title of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery.

Later he continued studies on Pain Therapy in Rome at the Regina Elena Maternal Institute, Carlo Forlanini Hospital, La Sapienza University, Tor Vergata University and at the Regina Elena Institute for Tumor Study, practicing nerve blocks with Prof. Arcuri, a direct student of Dr. Bonica.

Later, he completed the Treatment of Pain based on nerve blocks at the University of Washington Multidisciplinary Pain Center and Department of Anesthesiology, in Seattle Washing-ton, department founded by Dr. Bonica.

As a complement to the multidisciplinary way of treating pain: he obtained training as an internal physician in the Department of Psychiatry of Prof. Alonso Fern ndez. And training in Magnetic Resonance and Radiology by Dr. Jorquera at San Carlos University Hospital in Madrid.

Since 1993, he has been the Head of Service of the Pain Unit of the San Francisco de As s Sanatorium in Madrid.

In 1996 he created the International Pain Foundation (IDF), the institution of which he is its President. Declared of public utility in the BOE 08-01-1997, registered in the Registry of Educational Foundations of the Ministry of Culture with the number: Madrid 1-3-502. Its aims are the study treatment and teaching about the pain and suffering of people, as well as, the help to professionals dedicated to this discipline. The IDF has the capacity to develop in any country in the world, currently, there are direct collaborations with Italy and Cuba.

Her teaching activity is varied: she has been an Honorary Professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the Alcalá de Henares University, Professor of Pharmacology of Prof. Cuenca Fernández. Professor of Continuing Education at the College of Pharmacists of Madrid from 1995 to 1999 and has taught several courses on pain and its treatment at the College of Physicians of Madrid, in addition to courses on pain treatment for pharmacists in Seville, Barcelona, ​​Murcia, Valencia and other cities in Spain. Since 1997 she is a professor at the Sanitary School of Nursing of the Autonomous University of Madrid. He collaborates with the Community of Madrid in the Science Week that takes place every year in November.

Her ease of communication and her desire to transmit her experience has prompted her to teach many courses aimed at the general public, on various topics: from the anatomy, physiology and pharmacology of pain to laughter therapy, including other topics such as grief, death, psychological treatment of pain, mental control, psychosomatic diseases and others.
