PART I - THE CENTRAL UNIVERSE AND THE SUPERUNIVERSES

CHAPTER 1 - THE UNIVERSAL FATHER

THE UNIVERSAL FATHER is the God of all creation, the First Source and Center of all things and all beings. Think first of God as creator, then as controller, and finally, as infinite sustainer. The truth about the Universal Father had begun to dawn on humanity when the prophet said: «You are only God; There is no one but you. You made heaven and heaven from heaven, with all his army; You preserve and control them. By the Sons of God the universes were made. The Creator covers himself with light as a garment and extends the heavens like a curtain . Only the concept of the Universal Father - one God instead of many gods - allowed mortal man to understand the Father as divine creator and infinite controller.

The myriads of planetary systems were formed so that many different types of intelligent creatures finally inhabited them, beings that could know God, receive divine affection, and love him in turn. The universe of universes is the work of God and the abode of his various creatures. «God created the heavens and formed the earth; He established the universe and did not create this world in vain; to be inhabited he created it ».

All enlightened worlds recognize and worship the Universal Father, the eternal maker and infinite sustainer of all creation. The volitional creatures of universe after universe have undertaken the long, very long journey to Paradise, which is the fascinating challenge of the eternal adventure of reaching God the Father. The transcendent goal of the children of time is to find the eternal God, to understand the divine nature, to recognize the Universal Father. Creatures that know God have only one supreme ambition, one burning desire, and that is to arrive - as they are in their spheres - to be similar to what he is like in his paradisiacal perfection of personality and in his universal sphere of righteous supremacy. From the Universal Father that inhabits eternity, the supreme mandate has emanated: "Be perfect, just as I am perfect." In love and mercy, the messengers of Paradise have carried this divine exhortation through the ages and through the universes, even to reach as low creatures of animal origin as the human races of Urantia.

This magnificent universal mandate to strive for the perfection of divinity is the main duty, and should be the highest ambition, of all creation of struggling creatures of the God of perfection. This possibility of attaining divine perfection is the final and certain destiny of every eternal spiritual progress of man.

Urantia mortals can hardly expect to be perfect in the infinite sense, but it is entirely possible for human beings, who begin as they do on this planet, to attain the exalted and divine goal that the infinite God has set for mortal man; and when they reach this destiny they will be, in everything that corresponds to the self-realization and reach of the mind, as plethoric in their sphere of divine perfection as God himself is in his sphere of infinity and eternity. Such perfection may not be universal in the material sense, nor unlimited in intellectual understanding, nor final in spiritual experience, but it is final and complete in all finite aspects of divinity of will, perfection of personality motivation, and awareness of God.

This is the true meaning of that divine mandate: "Be perfect, just as I am perfect, " which constantly urges mortal man forward and draws him inward in that long and fascinating struggle to reach ever higher levels of spiritual values. and authentic meanings of the universe. This sublime search for the God of universes is the supreme adventure of the inhabitants of all worlds of time and space.

1. THE NAME OF THE FATHER

Through the universes, of all the names by which God the Father is known, those who meet most frequently are those who designate him as the First Source and Universal Center. The First Father is known by several names in different universes and in different sectors of the same universe. The names that the creature assigns to the Creator depend largely on the concept that the creature has about the Creator. The First Source and Universal Center has never been revealed by name, only by its nature. If we believe that we are the children of this Creator, it is only natural that we come to call him Father. But this is a name of our own choice, and part of the recognition of our personal relationship with the First Source and Center.

The Universal Father never imposes any form of arbitrary recognition, formal worship, or servile service on the intelligent volitional creatures of the universes. The evolutionary inhabitants of the worlds of time and space must by themselves in their hearts recognize, love, and voluntarily worship him. The Creator refuses to exercise coercion or impose submission to the spiritual free will of his material creatures. The affectionate dedication of the human will to do the will of the Father is the most select gift that man can give to God; indeed, such consecration of the creature's will constitutes the only possible gift of true value that man can do to the Paradise Father . In God, man lives, moves, and has his being; there is nothing that man can give to God except this choice to abide by the will of the Father, and these decisions, made by the intelligent volitional creatures of the universes, constitute the reality of that authentic adoration. ethics that is so satisfying for the nature of the Creator Father dominated by love.

When you have truly gained awareness of God, after really discovering the majestic Creator and when you begin to experience the understanding of the presence of the divine controller that resides in you, then, according to your enlightenment and according to the manner and method by which they reveal to God the divine Sons, you will find a name for the Universal Father, who will adequately express your concept of the First Source and Center. Thus, in different worlds and in several universes, the Creator is recognized by numerous appeals, which in the spirit of relationship mean all the same, but, in words and symbols, each name responds to the degree, the depth, of their enthronement in the hearts of their creatures of a certain domain.

Near the center of the universe of universes, the Universal Father is usually known by names that can be considered representative of the First Source. Beyond in the universes of space, the terms used to designate the Universal Father more often mean the Universal Center. Even further in the stellar creation, as in the world headquarters of your local universe, it is known as the First Creative Source and the Divine Center. In a close constellation, God is called the Father of Universes. In another, the Infinite Sustainer, and to the east, the Divine Controller. He has also been designated as the Father of Lights, the Gift of Life, and the Only Almighty.

In those worlds in which a life of bestowal has lived a Paradise Son, God is generally known by some name indicative of personal relationship, tender affection, and paternal devotion. In the central headquarters of your constellation they refer to God as the Universal Father and on different planets of your local system of inhabited worlds, he is alternately known as the Father of Fathers, the Paradise Father, the Father of Havona, and the Father Spirit. Those who know God through the revelations of the bestowal of the Paradise Sons, yield over time to the sentimental attraction of the touching relationship of the Creator-creature association, and refer to God as "our Father."

On a planet of creatures with sex, in a world in which the impulses of paternal emotion are intrinsic in the heart of their intelligent beings, the term Father becomes a very expressive and appropriate name for the eternal God. He is better known, more universally recognized, on your planet, Urantia, by the name of God. The name given is of little importance; the significant thing is that you must know him and aspire to be similar to him. Your prophets of yesteryear truly called him "the everlasting God" and referred to him as the "dwelling in eternity."

2. THE REALITY OF GOD

God is primordial reality in the spirit world; God is the source of truth in the spheres of the mind ; God sends his shadow all over the material realms. For all created intelligences, God is a personality, and for the universe of universes he is the First Source and Center of eternal reality. God is neither like man nor machine. The First Father is universal spirit, eternal truth, infinite reality, and paternal personality.

The eternal God is infinitely more than idealized reality or the personalized universe. God is not simply man's supreme desire, the objectified mortal search. Nor is God merely a concept, the potential power of righteousness. The Universal Father is not a synonym for nature, nor is he the natural law personified. God is a transcendent reality, not simply the traditional human concept of supreme values. God is not a psychological focus of spiritual meanings, nor is it "the noblest work of man . " God can be any of these concepts or all of them in the minds of men, but he is even more. He is a saving person and a loving Father to all who enjoy spiritual peace on earth, and who yearn to experience the survival of personality in death.

The actuality of God's existence is demonstrated in human experience by the fact that he within himself has the divine presence, the Spirit Monitor sent from Paradise to reside in the mortal mind of man and there to help the evolution of the immortal soul of eternal survival. Three experiential phenomena reveal the presence of this divine Adjuster in the human mind:

1. The intellectual ability to know God: conscience of God.

2. The spiritual impulse to find God : search for God.

3. The desire of the personality to be like God: the fully sincere desire to do the will of the Father.

The existence of God can never be proved by scientific experiments or by the pure reason of logical deduction. God can be realized only in the domains of human experience; However, the true concept of the reality of God is reasonable for logic, plausible for philosophy, essential for religion, and indispensable for all hope of personality survival.

Those who know God have experienced the fact of his presence; such mortal connoisseurs of God possess in their personal experience the only positive proof of the existence of the living God which can offer one human being to another. The existence of God is totally beyond any possibility of demonstration except for the contact between the consciousness of God in the human mind and the presence of God in the form of the Thought Adjuster that dwells in the mortal intellect and is granted to man as the free gift of the Universal Father.

In theory you can think of God as the Creator, and he is the personal Creator of Paradise and the central universe of perfection, but the universes of time and space are all created and organized by the heavenly body of the Creator Sons. The Universal Father is not the personal creator of the local universe of Nebadon; The universe in which you live is the creation of his Son Michael. Although the Father does not personally create evolutionary universes, he does control them in many of their universal relationships and in certain of their manifestations of physical, intellectual and spiritual energy. God the Father is the personal creator of the universe of Paradise and, in association with the Eternal Son, the creator of all other personal Creators of universes.

As a physical controller in the material universe of universes, the First Source and Center operates on the original models of the eternal Island of Paradise, and through this center of absolute gravity the eternal God exercises a cosmic overcontrol of the physical level just like in the universe central and in the entire universe of universes. As a mind, God works in the Deity of the Infinite Spirit ; as a spirit, God manifests himself in the person of the Eternal Son and in the persons of the divine children of the Eternal Son. This interrelation of the First Source and Center with the Persons and the coordinated Absolutes of Paradise does not in the least prevent the direct personal action of the Universal Father throughout all creation and at all levels. Through the presence of his fragmented spirit, the Creator Father maintains immediate contact with his child creatures and with his created universes.
