The Huerto del Sol Institute of Permaculture is an entity committed to the development of sustainable projects within the ethics and principles of permaculture. The field of work for research is a 2, 600 square meter farm located in Valverde de la Vera, in Cáceres.
“We believe in the human being and despite the challenges that this beginning of the century plagues us, we trust that we will be able to redesign the current social, political and economic system transforming it into a more human model based on an equitable distribution of resources, which allows us to attend the needs of all humanity, where solidarity is the basis of economic structure and nature, the source of inspiration for all our plans and actions, ”says project promoter Manuel Fernández Prieto.
The Huerto del Sol offers sustainable solutions based on creativity, innovation and the promotion of connections between projects, organizations and people in harmony with the environment. The objective is to participate in a movement of movement towards a region of the Vera really sustainable and that the current extends to other regions.
Among other services, it provides training, consulting, research, projects and farm maintenance. Some of the most requested courses are the Certificate of Design in Permaculture, Initiation to Permaculture, ecological garden, bio-consturction, eco-technology and eco-economy. In that sense, on November 22 begins a workshop dedicated to the transformation of organic products totally free.
The initiative also has a space dedicated to bartering called Ecoactivo.org, a seed bank and an Eco-shop. "We take care and cultivate a physical space dedicated to the research and practice of organic farming, where we have our own seed bank, which is still incipient and from which we obtain basic food for the family, " he explains to Positive News.
Fernández Prieto has assured that the response of the people is "good" and that "some people are surprised, others congratulate and many are interested" even more in the subject. "The idea emerges as an expression of a need to commit ourselves more to sustainability and the development and promotion of permaculture as a way to achieve the sustainability of the systems in which it is applied, " he says.
