The god Mars is one of the most important gods of the Greco-Roman world, along with the god J piter, Neptune, Pluto and the goddess Venus. The god Mars has had a preponderance, because thanks to its cult you get the strength and rigor that helped Greco-Roman culture win wars. Its equivalent in the pantheon of Greek gods is Ares and belongs to the second generation of gods and as it is intuited represents the spirit of the battle . He is the son of j piter (Zeus) and Hera

What is the symbology of the god Mars?

Traditionally the god Mars is represented with a helmet, armor, spear, sword and shield . Culturally they used to say that their battles were dealt with on foot; but sometimes, also in a car that is thrown with four steeds, and often accompanied by two daimons that are his children, namely: Deimo (terror) and phobes (fear) . In addition, among other of his children, the famous Amazonas stand out, and for Romans Romulus and Remus, and the wild dog (or wolf) and the vulture are also attributed as animals .

In addition, the god Mars by possessing a metallic sword (associated with iron), is attributed to him by this metal; -According to ancient Roman traditions-, properties to drive away harmful spirits. Therefore, the sword is a symbol of extermination, of freedom and strength . In addition the god Mars, with his spear symbolizes the virility, independence and courage that is exercised over the material world . On the other hand, the helmet, the armor and the shield symbolize the protection and the border of the self and the others. Representing therefore, human relations, which often occur under the egotic characteristics -warriors-.

What does its symbology represent in the human being?

It is interesting to note that Mars can symbolize a paternal attitude that can become aggressive, tyrannical or even absent. Being the father of Romulus and Remus (breastfed by a wolf ), the god Mars, is also the god of youth, and of the youthful impetus that helps emigrate, found and conquer new lands. Likewise, the Amazons, being their daughters, could represent a certain feminist level, in whose psychological nucleus, an unresolved knot is hidden with respect to the father figure (the god Mars), perhaps because of an overly authoritarian, aggressive or wild attitude captured by the girl, making her be fixed to the phallic stage (3 to 5 years) with a competitive attitude .

We see that in these two cases, there is a fixation to the phallic character, expressed by the narcissus of conquering and founding new lands, and an attitude of aggressiveness. Both seek to recognize the identity (or something) that has not been given, or denied by an absent parent, authoritarian or tyrant. The same goes for the shield, the armor and the helmet, that is, the ego wants the recognition of the other, and often wants to transgress the ideas and conceptions of the other person; putting your own This undoubtedly generates small “wars” that are accompanied by discord, terror (deimo) or fear (phobias).

The god Mars in astrology

His astral energy is materially represented by his homonymous planet, whose domicile is in the sign of Aries, his exile in libra, his exaltation in scorpio and capricorn, and his fall in cancer and taurus. It also relates to iron metal, and the color red. Symbols that refer to physical determination and active psychic character, as a life-giving and passion principle.

In this sense, the god Mars and especially his homonymous planet, have their domicile in Aries, because formerly warriors and heads of state used to undertake their conquests of new territories in the month of spring (March and April), something that correlates with the characteristics of the god and the constellation Ariana. That is why it is said that the god Mars protects the community against enemy insults through his shield

On the other hand, Mars (like Venus and Mercury) being closer to the earth, (representation of the physical body) corresponds to the basic biological dimensions of the human being; Mars brute force, the release of toxins, hormones, and fluids (while Venus affect and mercury thought).
