Table of contents hide 1 what we want and what we do… 2 the Samsara or Kingdom of Desire…. 3 transcend the intention ... 4 want less and act more ... 5 make it happen ...

This is a not very common question, in fact we actually conceive them most of the time as synonyms, we usually believe that willpower is the same as desire.

what we want and what we do ...

However, they are not the same, the big difference between one and the other is the way we interact with each of them. How much we want and how much we do. How much we achieve and how much we only imagine.

For example, when we talk about willpower, we mean having initiative, fighting for what we set out to, mentally and emotionally resist when situations in our life do not go well, or not as we expect. If we stay with this approach we can understand that the will is action, movement and perseverance.

But then what is desire?, desire has nothing to do with will, most of the time it is only thought and rarely is action. When we have the will to obtain something we are oriented to action, when we want something we visualize it, we think it and sometimes we take it to action. The desire has many pitfalls the most difficult to recognize is to create imaginary realities that we rarely take to action.

the Samsara or Kingdom of Desire ...

In the East, Samsara is conceived as the Kingdom of Desire, and if we think about it, we are driven by it all the time, we want good health, work, friends, houses, cars ... without considering what we need, if we decide to Make reality is, willpower, perseverance, effort and action.

This is how desire is intention and willpower is action .

It is also interesting to note that desire can be edifying or non-edifying, for example, when we want to have a good job to give a better education to our children it is constructive, but when we want someone who gives us Something adverse happens to you is a destructive desire.

We find neutral desire to eat, rest, breathe, move our arms.

transcend the intention

The willpower is not by itself positive or negative, it is only to determine what we set out to do, it is to transcend the intention .

The important thing here is to know what is better? Of course, the willpower that guides us to carry out what we plan, desire gives us a false space to stay in the imagination and in many cases when what we want does not happen inevitably leads to suffering and frustration

want less and act more ...

The recommendation is to stop wanting so much and acting more, focusing on the willpower to undertake and not just stagnate in the imagination or thoughts of what we could be and have.

Desire by not requiring action allows us to wander again and again in thoughts that normally do not allow us to rest or be attentive. Where we most easily notice this situation is in meditation, the more we want over and over, it is more difficult to calm the mind and stabilize our concentration. Desire less and act more is necessary for adequate emotional and mental health.

By habit and even in our conversations we focus only on what we want, somehow it seems that we are more interesting, but in reality of everything we say, how much do we do? ... is something we necessarily have to reflect .

make it happens….

For example, we want our children to be the best in their class, but how much willpower we dedicate to this, what we do to make it happen .

This is how wishing less and acting more will bring us more benefits than just devoting our valuable time to speculating ... let's determine to live the present moment with more action and not just stay in desire or intention.
