David Topí: Metal Alchemy, Inner Alchemy

It is possible that many have heard of alchemy, an ancient science that, Hermes Trimegistos, father of many of the esoteric traditions and teachings that come to our times with the name of "hermetic", seems to have "brought to light" under the form of allegories and metaphors, giving keys to those initiated in the mysteries of life, nature and the universe, to achieve changes inside, in their psyche, in their soul, through the transformation of " metals " ( qualities) inherent to the human being.

For those who were really looking for the philosopher's stone and the literal transmutation of metals such as lead in gold, the books of Ramón Llul, Flamel, Fulcanelli or other medieval alchemists were endless inscrutable mazes, impossible to decipher, then, of In fact, although perhaps there was and had the formula for it, true alchemy, taught and transmitted by hermetic, esoteric, initiatory schools, is none other than that of the transformation of man to become something higher, higher, more advanced.

From khem

Alchemy comes from Egypt, and so its name indicates. "Al-Khem" means "from Khem" (the prefix to - is, in Spanish, a "from" or "related to") and in turn "out of the dark", "Khem" being a term that means "black "In ancient Egyptian, and that was in turn the name used for the same country, Egypt, called" dark "or" hidden. " Hence, everything that came out or came from Egyptian hidden traditions or knowledge came from Khem, and among them, the most important or one of the most important, the " alchemy ."

The alchemist teachings have always been done through allegories, as I was saying, being an allegory a cryptic information, in the form of a poem, a story, a metaphor, that had to be interpreted and decoded correctly to be able to put it into practice and extract its lessons and knowledge, thus preventing them from being revealed and, perhaps, misused, by those not instructed and prepared for it throughout the ages.

Transforming the human being

In the alchemical tradition, it is taken for granted that all the components that make up the human being, which are called "base metals" can be transformed from one state to another. The transformation and transmutation of metals, thus, corresponds to the transformation of qualities in the human being, through deep and internal processes. Each metal in each alchemy book corresponds to a modality or level of human consciousness and, gold, as the metal to be obtained, corresponds to the sublime, maximum, pure consciousness. The classification of the metals according to the alchemists ranged from the most coarse and imperfect (furthest from the “essential” and pure consciousness of Creation) with the most refined and close to that spiritual and evolutionary “gold” that was intended to be achieved. Thus, the alchemist tries to eliminate from himself those low metals (qualities) of his thoughts (mental body, consciousness, mental spheres), of his emotions (emotional body), and of his actions (etheric, physical), transmuting all those imperfections to bring them towards an alignment with the natural laws of operation of Creation, as I explained a couple of articles ago.

When this was achieved, "gold" had been obtained, the desired state, the lead had been transmuted into the perfect substance. As you can see, the method of operation is, on the basis, equal to many “ modern ” healing techniques, eliminate the negative of the human being, transmute the negative and heavy, to make it positive and elevated, if we speak simply, but quite right, referring to the programming that we carry on in the mental spheres, unprocessed fears, limiting or dogmatic belief systems, etc.

Symbolism and correspondences

Some of the symbols and forces used in alchemy are known to all: the earth, which represents the talents and natural resources in a person for the alchemical process; the air, which represents his intellect, his conscience, his mind; water, which represents your emotions, intuition and creativity; the fire, symbol for action, the power of will and courage for the change of that person, and for that person to produce changes in the world; and the ether, Akasha or fifth element, as the divine essence in all of us that assists us in change and transformation.

A term used in the alchemy books is that of the " Raw Matter", the initial matter, the base substance from which one starts in the transformation process. One of those initial substances, among others, was silver, whose esoteric counterpart is the feminine and intuitive aspect of the psyche (and the Moon in its astrological aspect), including the attributes of intuition, inner wisdom, compassion, open view. The fact of wanting to transmute silver into gold was the process of awakening in the alchemist these qualities, basic and necessary to achieve "pure consciousness" or "enlightened". A person who does not wish to open himself to his intuition, to his internal knowledge, to learn from himself, could never reach that state of "enlightenment" and "connection with the Source."

And how does this transmutation occur? Alchemy speaks of a potent agent, catalyst element, which has been called or allegorically explained as the Elixir of Life, the Philosopher's Stone, or Quintessence. And this philosopher's stone is nothing other than the divine spark in each one, our being, monad or essence, present in everyone and everything, and detonating, as you may have seen, if you are following me in the articles, of any change deep in the growth of the human being, because there is no change or transformation if there is no pure, quantum energy, from the Source itself, that directs it.

Best of all, we all carry a philosopher's stone and an elixir of allegorical life in ourselves, but they have never wanted us to know and find it. Perhaps it is time to bring from Khem the processes for it, and let's bring to light how to convert all our heavy metals into gold, something we will see as the alchemists did in phases in the next article.
