Fourth and Last Hindu Law of Spirituality: When something ends, it ends

"Letting go frees you from burdens, anchors, and leaves you free to start over."

- Eduardo Alighieri

We live constantly with the frustration of seeing events happen that are beyond our control . Little by little we realize that our will is contingent, and that it is not she who determines the course of things.

Meeting face to face with our smallness is never an easy time, and many times it can take us a long time to understand what our power of action is in our lives. However, each Hindu law of spirituality teaches us the same in different situations: Accept .

Accept that there is something greater than you, and that nothing you do can confront that Higher Will . Life will go on even if you are stopped fighting a past event that you cannot accept.

In the course of this cycle we have been talking a little about each Hindu law of spirituality. This time, we have the fourth and final law .

And the most decisive of all.

Fourth Hindu Law of Spirituality: when something ends, it ends

That's right, and there is nothing to do about it.

The Buddha teaches us that one of the fundamental causes of suffering is attachment . Many times it happens that certain events of the past stop us in time . We stood in the past, struggling not to accept something that happened. And this attachment to a past event weighs us down and hurts us infinitely preventing us from learning and continuing with our life.

This Hindu law of spirituality tells us that we must let go of past events . Lying to cling to something that is no longer there, we will not be able to appreciate what we do have . The death of a loved one, the rupture of a relationship or the loss of a job are events that happen by nature, with which sooner or later we will have to live together. And if we do not accept what this law teaches us, then we cannot move forward.

When something ends, it ends . And it is not open to negotiations. However, our position in this regard does enable us to grow and take advantage of these types of situations as well.

Accept to heal

This does not mean that it is not right to mourn the loss, or that being sad is wrong. Also overcoming past events consists of a cycle, and sadness is a fundamental part of it. We must learn from sadness too, and accept it to know it better, because we will feel it unfailingly in the future . It's part of life.

What this Hindu law of spirituality teaches us is that we should not allow ourselves to stay forever in that part of the cycle. Sadness comes and goes, just like everything in life. We must let it flow and move on. Understand that when something really ends, no matter how important it is in your life, it will not recede, for that is the opposite direction of the Higher Will . However much your will is.

Accept it, and move on. Life brings you new things at every moment, and you must learn to observe the sense in which things flow. Let this sense go through you, and learn to flow with it. You have no option.

Each cycle that closes gives way to a new cycle that begins . Life itself is a cycle, and so are you. Then let the events unfold as the Higher Will determines. Take your place in the world, and humbly accept the events that are given to you to learn.

The Hindu laws of spirituality are summarized in this: Accept . Accept it all. Grow, learn and evolve from there.

Nothing outside of you can be controlled by your own will . So point your will towards yourself, and let the external show you the way.
