Conversations with God: I love you Do you know it? by Neale Donald Walsch

I love you. You know?

I know. And I love you.

eleven

I would like to return to my list of questions. There are so many details that I would like to add to each of them! We could write an entire book only about relationships, I know. But then we would never move on to my other questions.

There will be other times and other places. Even other books. I'm with you. Let's continue, then. We will return to it if we have time.

Agree. So, my next question was: Why does it seem like I can never get enough money in my life? Am I destined to always be without a hard and balancing? What prevents me from realizing my full potential in regards to money?

This circumstance is not only manifested in your case, but in that of many people.

Everyone tells me that it is a problem of self-esteem; of lack of self-esteem. I have had a dozen “new era” teachers telling me that this lack of everything is always the result of a lack of self-esteem.

It is a very convenient simplification. In this case, your teachers are wrong. You do not suffer from a lack of self-esteem. Actually, the biggest obstacle of your life has been the control of your ego. You could even say you have too much self-esteem!

Well, again I feel disturbed and upset, but you're right.

You keep saying that you feel disturbed and disgusted every time I simply tell you the truth about you. The embarrassment is the response of a person who still has an ego worried about how others see it. Invite yourself to go further. Try a new answer. Try the laugh.

Agree.

Your problem is not self-esteem. You have been endowed with it in abundance. Like most people. You all think very well yourselves; as it should be. So, for the vast majority of people, the problem is not self-esteem.

What is it then?

The problem is not understanding the principles of abundance; attached, normally, to a rather wrong judgment about what is "good" and what is "bad."

Let me give you an example.

There would be no more.

You have the idea that money is bad. You also have the idea that God is good. Jesus! Therefore, in your thinking system God and money are not compatible.

Well, in a sense I guess it's accurate. This is how I think.

This makes things very interesting; since, consequently, it makes it difficult for you to accept money in exchange for something good.

I want to say that, if you think something is very "good", its value in terms of money is less for you. Thus, the "better" is something (that is, the more it is worth), the less money it is worth.

You are not the only one who thinks so. Your whole society believes it. That's why teachers earn a misery, and porn artists a fortune. Your leaders earn so little compared to the sports figures, who believe they have to steal to make up the difference. Your priests and rabbis live on bread and water, while you fill the artists with money.

Think about it. Everything to which you give intrinsic value you insist that you must be able to obtain for little money. The lone scientific researcher looking for a remedy for AIDS has to beg for money, while the woman who writes a book about the hundred new ways of practicing sex, edits cassettes and creates weekend seminars on the subject ... wins a fortune.

You are very prone to this idea of "the world upside down", and this is a consequence of a wrong thought.

The wrong thought is your idea of money. You love him, and yet you say that it is the root of all evil. You adore it, and yet you call it "the vile metal." You say that a person is "disgustingly rich." And if someone gets rich doing "good" things, you immediately suspect. You say it is "unfair."

So a doctor would do better not making too much money, or would do better learning to be discreet about it. And let's not say a minister! You will really do better not to earn lots of money, or you are sure to have problems.

As you can see, according to your way of thinking, the person who chooses the highest vocation must be the worst paid ...

Hummm

Yes, hummm is correct. You must think about it, it is a wrong thought.

I thought there was nothing wrong or right.

There isn't. There is only what works for you, and what does not work for you. The terms correct or equivocado are relative, and whenever I use them I do so in that sense. In this case, in relation to what works for you in relation to what you say you want - your thoughts about money are wrong thoughts.

Remember that thoughts are creators. So, if you think money is bad, and yet you think you're good, anyway, the conflict is obvious.

Now, you in particular, My son, show in this matter a particularly pronounced conscience. For most people the conflict is not, by any means, as huge as for you. Most people do things they hate to live, so they don't mind earning money from it. Wrong because of evil But you love what you do with the days of your life. You love the activities with which you fill them.

Consequently, for you, getting large amounts of money for what you do would be, according to your thinking system, getting mal> for well, which is unacceptable to you. Before, you would rather starve than win the vile metal for a service that you consider pure as if the service would somehow lose its purity if you made money from it.

Here, then, is the real ambivalence about money. A part of you rejects it, and a part of you feels not to have it. Now, the universe does not know what to do with it, since it receives from you two different thoughts. So your life, as far as money is concerned, is going to continue running at times because you keep running at times in relation to money.

You do not have a clear objective; You are not really sure what is true for you. And the universe becomes like a great photocopier: it simply produces a series of copies of your thoughts.

Now, there is only one way to change all this. You have to change your thinking about it.

How can I change my way of thinking? My way of thinking about something is my way of thinking. My thoughts, my attitudes, my ideas have not been created in a minute. I have to assume that they are the result of years of experience, of a lifetime of difficulties. You are right about my way of thinking about money, but how can I change it?

This could be the most interesting question in this book. The usual method of creation for most human beings is a three-stage process that includes thought, word and deed or action.

First comes the thought, the generating idea, the initial concept. Then comes the word. Most thoughts are transformed into words, which are often later written or pronounced. This provides added energy to thought, throwing it into the world, where it can be perceived by others.

Finally, in some cases the words become action, and what is called a result is obtained; a manifestation in the physical world of what began as a thought.

Everything that affects you in your artificial world arises in this way, with small variations. Using the three creation centers.

But here a question arises: how to change a Promotional Thought?

Yes, it really is a good question. And it is very important; since, if humans do not change some of their Promotional Thoughts, humanity could be destined to become extinct.

The fastest way to change a root thought, or a promoter idea, is to reverse the thought-word-work process.

Explain it to me.

Perform the action you want the new thought to carry. Then say the words you want your new thought to carry. Do it quite often, and you will teach your mind to think in a new way.

Teach the mind? Is that not mind control? Isn't it just mental manipulation?

Do you have any idea how your mind has come to have the thoughts it now has? Do you know that your world has manipulated your mind to think like it does? Wouldn't it be better if it was you who manipulated your mind, and not the world?

Wouldn't it be better if you thought the thoughts you want to think, and not those of others? Are you not better equipped with creative thoughts than with reactive thoughts?

However, your mind is full of reactive thinking, thought that springs from the experience of others. Very few of your thoughts flow from data produced by yourself, and even less from preferences produced by yourself.

Your own root thinking about money is the first example. Your thinking about money (money is bad) goes directly against your experience (it's great to have money!). So you have to lie to yourself about your experience in order to justify your root thinking.

This thought is so ingrained that you can't even think of the possibility that your idea about money may be inaccurate.

So what interests us is that we produce data produced by ourselves. And that's how we change a root thought, and make it your root thought, and not someone else's.

By the way: you have another root thought about money that I haven't mentioned yet.

Which?

That there is not enough. Actually, you have this same root thought about everything. There is not enough money, there is not enough time, there is not enough love, there is not enough food, water, compassion in the world ... Anything that is good turns out that there is not enough.

This conscious race towards the “never-there is enough” creates the world as you see it.

Agree. So, I have two root thoughts - two Promotional Thoughts - that change about money.

Well, at least two! They are probably many more. Let's see ... money is bad ... money is scarce ... you cannot receive money for doing God's work (in your case, this is important) ... money is never given freely ... money does not grow on trees (when actually does)) ... money corrupts ...

I see that I have a lot to do.

Indeed, since you are not happy with your current economic situation. On the other hand, it is important to understand that you are unhappy with your current economic situation because you are unhappy with your current economic situation.

Sometimes I find it hard to follow you ...

Sometimes I find it hard to guide you ...

Listen: it is You who is God. Why don't you put it in a way that is easier to understand?

I have already put it in a way that is easy to understand.

So why don't you just make me understand it, if that is what you really want?

I really want what you really want; nothing more and nothing less. Don't you see that this is the greatest gift I have given you? If I wanted for you something other than what you want for yourself, and then reached the extreme of making you have it, where is your free will? How can you be a creative entity if I dictate what you are going to be, do and have? My joy lies in your freedom, not in your obedience.

Agree. Did you say that I am not happy with my economic situation because I am not happy with my economic situation?

You are what you think you are. When thinking is negative, it is a vicious circle. You have to find a way to break the circle.

Thus, a large part of your current experience is based on your previous thinking. Thought guides the experience, which in turn guides the thought, which in turn guides the experience. When Promotional Thought is joyful, this can produce constant joy. When Promotional Thought is hellish, it can produce - and in fact produce - a continuous hell.

The trick is to change the Promotional Thought. I was about to illustrate how to do it.

The first thing to do is reverse the thought-word-work paradigm. Do you remember the old adage: "Think before you do it"?

Yes.

Well, forget it. If you want to change a root thought, you have to do it before thinking about it.

For example: you walk down the street and you meet an old woman asking for alms. You realize that it is in the bones and that it survives day after day. Instantly you know that, for little money you carry, you surely have enough to share it with her. Your first impulse is to give him some coins. A part of you is even willing to put your hand in your pocket looking for a thousand dollar bill. What the hell! It will be great for her! Help her!

Then, the thought appears. Are you crazy? We only have two thousand pesetas to spend the whole day! And you want to give her a thousand? Then your hand starts to falter.

Again the thought: Hey, come on! You don't have enough to give it away! For what you want most: give him some coins and get out!

Quickly you look in your other pocket trying to get some coins. But your fingers just feel hard and pesetas. You feel disturbed. You, so well dressed and so well fed, are you going to give this poor woman that nothing has a few hard and some pesetas!

You try in vain to find at least one hundred coin. Ah! Here is one, in the bottom of the pocket. But in the meantime you have passed by, smiling sadly, and it is too late to go back. She doesn't get anything; and you don't get anything either. Instead of the joy of being aware of your abundance and sharing it, you now feel as poor as the woman.

Why didn't you just give him the ticket? Your first impulse was that, but then your thought got in the way.

Next time, he decides to act before thinking. Give him the money. Ahead! You have enough, and you will get more. That is the only thought that sets you apart from women. You know for sure that you will get more, while she does not know.

When you want to change a root thought, work according to the new idea you have. But you must act quickly, or your mind will kill the idea before you know it. And I say it literally. The idea, the new truth, will die before you before you have had the opportunity to be aware of it.

So, act quickly when the opportunity arises; and, if you do it quite often, your mind will soon make the idea yours. And it will be your new thought.

I think something I understand. Is this what the so-called New Thought Movement alludes to?

If it isn't, it should be. The new thought in your only possibility. It is your only real opportunity to evolve, to grow, to truly be Who You Really Are.

At this moment your mind is full of old thoughts. Not only of old thoughts, but, for the most part, of old thoughts of someone else. Now, at this moment, the important thing is to change your mind in this regard. This is the evolution.
