UN declares April 22 Mother Earth Day
April 22, 2009 The UN General Assembly today approved a resolution declaring April 22 as International Mother Earth Day. The organ's president, Miguel D'Escoto, stressed that the proclamation invites States, the United Nations and the rest of the intergovernmental system to observe this date every year to raise awareness about the challenges to preserve the planet.
