"If you don't want to end up in an insane asylum, open your heart and abandon yourself to the natural course of life."

Anahata Chakra is one of the most important energy centers of the body. It is found within the seven main chakras, and it plays a fundamental role in our interpersonal development.

How could it be otherwise, the heart chakra finds its foundation in love . Self-love, love towards others, love towards life. That is why the feelings are absolutely related to this center, and therefore, our internal state will be absolutely influenced by the way we work this chakra in our solar plexus.

In this article we will deal specifically with the heart chakra due to its great importance in our daily lives.

Knowing the Heart Chakra

We know that each chakra is related to a specific psychological function, and therefore they are a fundamental piece of self-awareness . The fourth chakra, in the solar plexus, is in this sense one of the most important and that causes the greatest damage to people if it is very blocked.

The center of the heart chakra is located between the fourth and fifth vertebrae of the spine, and has an active role in the energy exchange with other people.
In addition, it acts on the lungs, strengthens and stimulates the immune system, the thymus gland that regulates growth, in addition to governing the entire respiratory and cardiac process, and maintains a close relationship with hands, shoulders and clavicles.

This chakra in our solar plexus is a center of integration, it is the bridge where the lower and upper chakras connect. And his strength communicates mostly outward, outward.

The color that represents the heart chakra is green, which we find in the expression of nature. She always prevails, has the ability to heal herself, and rejuvenate after each winter to sprout from the earth and fill everything with life. In the same way, we have the ability to be reborn after suffering and pain, and return to life again.

Anahata is represented by a twelve-petalled lotus flower, within which there are two superimposed triangles, one pointing up and the other down, which can be interpreted as a connection between the ether and the earth, or between lower and upper chakras. At the intersection of these triangles is a shatkona, which symbolizes the union of masculine and feminine (it represents Purusha, the Supreme Being; and Prakriti, mother nature).

Considerations about the heart chakra

Within the yogic philosophy, the heart chakra has several characteristics.

The element of this heart chakra is none other than air . This is the greatest link that the human being establishes with the outside, introducing it to his body to make an exchange with the environment. Automatically, we inhale to incorporate oxygen from the air into our system, returning carbon dioxide back to the outside. It is that involuntary exchange, that of breathing, that necessarily connects us with everything that exists outside of ourselves. And we notice it in our breathing rhythm changes in response to the different emotional stimuli.

Its scripted name, Anahata, means sound produced without the contact of two parts, and at the same time pure, clean, immaculate . This name refers to the state in which we are able to detach ourselves and observe the different and contradictory experiences of life with a state of complete openness. We are used to the fact that each effect is produced by the confrontation of two opposing forces: However, at the level of the heart chakra we are presented with the possibility of integrating the two forces and producing an effect (in this case, a sound), without the confrontation of them (that is, without coming into contact). This is a specific energy of cooperation and integration, and opens us to a new, more peaceful perspective of the world .

Anahata Nad, sound without vibration, a sound that is not produced by a contact and is therefore inaudible, is the Vedic concept of the sound of the celestial kingdom . That is why it is related to balance, calm and serenity.

Functions of the heart chakra

This energy center is the nucleus from which our energy flows outward, and connects us with all life. The more we manage to open our heart chakra, the more will be our ability to love what life presents to us at every opportunity. To love and value ourselves as well as our fellow men and all the creatures that inhabit our planet.

This chakra has, in turn, an inverse relationship with our ego . This means that opening and unlocking this center implies a decrease in the influence that the ego has on us. Both manifestations of energy cannot coexist in equal measure.

Love does not need specific motives or stimuli to love. If it is pure, it radiates from the Spirit, not from our mind. And love has healing and transforming powers in people. And if it is unconditional, it manages to be imposed and spread.

Those who work the heart chakra achieve balance between the mind and the body, and develop a great capacity for empathy with others . They have no problem opening up to other people and trusting them. They accept the events that life presents to you as they are . They perceive the wonderful beauty of the little things in life, and know how to forgive even the most difficult situations.

Working the Heart Chakra

This chakra, like everything worthwhile in life, admits training and practice to be used to its fullest potential.

Undoubtedly, serving others is one of the greatest manifestations of love. Volunteers are a great option to give to people who need you. People with different abilities, older adults and even animals in need may need your help.

On the other hand, the opening of any chakra requires an internal work of self - knowledge . Therefore, meditation can be a great ally on this path. Every conscious breathing exercise involves an activity in the area of this chakra. The mantra of this center is ' YAM '.

Yoga also allows us to open the heart chakra. Postures with spine extension and chest opening, such as Anahatasana, Urdhva Mukha Svanasana and Ustrasana mobilize the solar plexus area and favor the activation of this center .

After all, this important energy center is activated when one loves without conditions, in a pure way and without expecting anything in return . Practice forgiveness to each and every person who participates in your life. Learn to look at them with eyes of understanding and respect them beyond your actions and thoughts.

That way, your heart chakra can transform the way you live and relate to the world.
