Campaign against negativism

  • 2012

(By Alejandra Luengo) .- Stoppage, crisis, bank bailouts, ERES, labor reform, corruption, lost rights, risk premium Every second we are being subjected to an infinity of bad news. Not only that they are happening, but that we are constantly alerted that something worse may come; that something more negative still awaits us.

Actually the level of emotional pressure that we are maintaining (without realizing it) is very high and highly harmful, since in the end being ingesting those messages is via TV, newspaper, radio, internet or social gatherings, the person, perhaps without realizing it, becomes somewhat blocked, distraught, irascible, with a high level of anger and / or emotionally depressed.

One ends up having the impression that whatever is done, everything goes in an increasingly large catastrophic wheel, and in which one stops having control over a system that mistreats him, abandoning the feeling of security over his own life. When the human being sees himself at the expense of others (be they people, companies, states, institutions) he feels vulnerable, insecure, with fears that he is unable to face and dependent on others.

For example, in many situations of abuse where one party feels unable to live, to get ahead because they have doubts about their ability and there is another oppressive, dominant, threatening, controlling party that reinforces the weakness of the other. This is currently the case with the climate that is being generated and is gaining more and more strength. All this bad news, all this message of chaos and lack of control generates uncertainty, helplessness, fear and insecurity that favors the person to become more submissive, more dependent, less risky, less entrepreneurial and have a sense of lack of vital control that It can depress and be apathetic, or with the feeling that you have nothing to lose and consider violence. In short, we currently live in a society immersed in a depressed environment and that affects all facets of our lives; economic, labor, social, family, personal, etc.

Given this, for mental health, you have to take care of yourself or protect yourself, as we want to call it, to avoid falling into a well from which then leaving is more difficult. There are more and more people around who tell me they have stopped watching the news as a way of not hearing the same thing all the time. It is a time in which, in particular, an effort must be made not to get carried away by what was and what will never be, because of the bad that will come, because of the negative moment. We cannot expect politicians, the media, social networks in the abstract to act responsibly and stop "bombing" us with catastrophic realities, because often they themselves are interested in being as mere passive-locked spectators. Through that fear they can take the measures and decisions they want, they can justify any action of economic and / or social cuts. We have moved from a society where everything was apparently "tied and secure" to another in which something new seems to happen every day; the unrealistic was the above, not now.

In a fundamental part, it now depends on us, on each one in his work, social, family circle. What we hope to show to the generations that come behind and the skills and values of which we want to impregnate and teach them so that they can face the difficulties. Some tips can be (if you can think of some more you will be welcome):

- Limit the intake of negative information either through any means. It is necessary to be informed, but there is no use going around the same thing. Stop listening to what harms you continuously.

- Act more on a day-to-day basis with objectives, challenges and short-term goals that are realistic. You will see that they are achieved and if you are active, even more.

- Search and encourage positive events, which are continually, even if they resonate less. From here we commit ourselves to spreading news that favors humanity, the struggle, the power of the person to get ahead, the overcoming, the ability to reinvent ourselves, generosity, responsibility, cooperation ... all emotions and constructive values, which must be try to boost in this context in which it seems that everything has worked for a few to achieve their goals of ambition and power, at the expense of the economy, employment and health of others who have been harmed.

- Find rewarding spaces with the couple, family, friends and ration the times dedicated to talk about the negative in groups, on social networks, etc.

- Do not forget or give up the ability of each person to fight and defend our rights and be aware that it is really the economic and political system that has to depend on us, not the other way around.

- Promote personal care spaces either through creative, recreational activities that enhance all the personal resources you have. If you feel depressed or apathetic ask for help; either in your environment, or through a professional.

- Believe and be aware of the ability to overcome and adapt the human being over time. He has survived and overcome countless crises in which he has come forward thanks to leaving his fears aside and not acting as an obstacle. We have multiple examples of countries and cultures that day by day seek to get ahead and do not present levels of anxiety and / or anxiety.

In short, negativism makes you think you are small and weak against your possibilities and those of the environment. Do not stay asleep with what they impose around you, because it can turn your life into a nightmare. It encourages and seeks positive emotions; because in the same way as the negatives, they are absorbed and spread.

To end these words of Tony de Mello “In the royal jail, it is the guardian who has the key. But in the jail where you are, in the psychological jail (prisons in which we are involved in our programming), it is the prisoner who has the key, but the bad thing is that he does not realize it. Woe to you if you see this clear! because you will inevitably leave your prisons to call things, people and situations by name. Then there will be no turning back because you will be waking up. ”

Let's wake up then.
