Anna Bonus Kingsford: Inspiration and Prophecy

In the previous work it was pointed out that Dr. Kingsford had the ability to see "as in dreams". It is quite possible that he wondered what the nature of these inspirations was.

Introduction

Continuation of the translation and interpretation of the work Illuminations of Anna Bonus Kingsford.

In the previous work we did the translation of point 1 of the Illuminations work . It was noted that she had the ability to see "as in dreams." It is quite possible that he wondered what the nature of these inspirations was. Here is an answer that not only applies to her but to anyone who seeks knowledge.

This theme is about inspiration and prophecy. It is a translation of the first part of point 2 of the work Illuminations: Concerning Inspiration and Prophesying

On inspiration and prophecy

Text translation

“Last night I heard, in my dreams, a voice that spoke to me and said:

Last night I heard, in my dreams, a voice that spoke to me and said: Questions about the method and nature of inspiration and the means by which God reveals the Truth?
    1. Questions about the method and nature of inspiration and the means by which God reveals the Truth?

    2. You should know that there is no lighting from the outside: The secrets of things are revealed from the inside.

    3. From outside does not come the Divine Revelation: but the inner Spirit of witness.

    4. Do not think that I speak to you about what you do not know: Unless you know it, it will not be given to you.

    5. The one who has is given, and has the greatest abundance.

    6. No one is a prophet unless he knows: The instructor of the people is a man of many lives.

    7. Innate knowledge and perception of things, these are the sources of revelation: The soul of man instructs him, having already learned from experience.

    8. Intuition is an innate experience: that which the soul knows about old and the old years.

    9. And the illumination is the Light of Wisdom, where a man perceives the secrets of the heavens.

    10. That light is the Spirit of God within man, showing within him the things of God.

    11. Don't think that I tell you what you don't know; everything comes from within: the Spirit that informs is the Spirit of God in the prophet.

    12. You ask me what is the Medium ?: and how should the expressions of those who speak in trance be interpreted?

    13. God does not speak through men in the way you suppose; because the Spirit of the prophet looks at God with open eyes. If he falls into a trance, his eyes are open and his inner being knows what he is told.

    14. But the man who speaks what he does not know is obsessed. An impure spirit, or an imprisoned spirit has entered into it.

    15. There are many such, but his words are those of a man who does not know: these are not prophets, they are not inspired.

    16. God does not obsess anyone. God reveals himself: and he to whom God reveals himself speaks of what he knows,

    17. Jesus Christ understands God: He knows what he testifies about.

    18. But the one who, being Medium, expresses himself in a trance about things he has no knowledge about and that his own spirit is not informed about: he is obsessed with a spirit of divination, a strange spirit, not his own.

    19. Pay attention because they express falsehoods, and they cheat, they often work for profit or for the pursuit of pleasure. They are a pain and a trap for believers.

    20. The inspiration may be similar to that of a medium, but he is aware and the knowledge of the prophet instructs him.

    21. Although he speaks in ecstasy, he says nothing he does not know.

    22. You who are a prophet have many lives, have taught many nations and have been before kings.

    23. And God has instructed you in the years that have passed and in the early days of the earth.

    24. By prayer, by fasting. By meditation, by the painful search you have appropriated what you know.

    25. There is no knowledge, but for work; There is no intuition except for experience.

    26. I have seen you in the hills of the East; I have followed your steps in the desert. I have seen you worship the dawn and I have marked your night guard in the mountain caverns.

    27. You have done it with patience, O prophet, God has revealed the truth within you. ”

Interpretation of Inspiration and Prophecy

The first thing to say is that interpretations are only a support for the reader . Each person has their own interpretations and, in the search for truth, it is their own interpretations that should serve as support to advance.

We have to understand that this text is for the truth seeker. Even the people we consider teachers are seekers and they are also learning.

This has to do with point 2. "there is no lighting from the outside". Many times we tend to look for someone who tells us what to do or think. It is true that who has more experience can contribute something, but who asks the questions is you and who knows the answers is you .

This explains that when a mathematician wants to solve a problem that has remained unanswered, he doesn't ask other mathematicians. Of course, you should report on the attempts that have been made, but he knows that if he searches with his thoughts he will get the answer. If the lighting is from within, it is internal, we have to work. We have to learn to think.

" Don't think that I talk to you about what you don't know . " We could think of the mother who sees her son trying to do something new and that the child gives up and tells his mother "I can't." If his mother answers: "keep trying, you can", the boy will suddenly discover a force he didn't know he had and will continue until he succeeds.

If we know that Life only gives us the tests we can solve, we will never give up. Therefore, this point continues " unless you know, it will not be given to you . " That we could interpret as I will not give you evidence for which you are not ready.

Point 7, might seem unfair:

Innate knowledge and the perception of things, these are the sources of revelation: The soul of man instructs him, having already learned from experience.

Talk about innate knowledge and have learned from experience. Why is it innate? We know that Anna Bonus Kingsford places great importance on reincarnation and karma.

We can understand that that innate knowledge is what we bring from other lives, that we do not remember, but that we have in our backpack of experience. But it also reminds us how important it is to gain experience. It is not enough to know the theory it is important to apply it.

Points 14 and 15 indicate something important.

14. But the man who speaks what he does not know is obsessed. An impure spirit, or an imprisoned spirit has entered into it.

15. There are many such, but his words are those of a man who does not know: these are not prophets, they are not inspired.

Although there will always be people who show themselves as experts, they may be the ones who talk a lot, but they don't know anything they are talking about.

We should not seek support from the one who does not know . Although there will always be people who show themselves as experts, they may be the ones who talk a lot, but they don't know anything they are talking about. We are not going to ask a blind man to lead us to the side of a cliff. For this reason, we shouldn't talk about what we don't know either. First we must gain experience.

Sentence 17 would seem like isolated information:

" Jesus Christ understands God ."

But in the same work there is a quotation that says that it refers to Christ within us . Our spirit knows the answer, this is one of the reasons why we should meditate on the answers to our problems. We will find the answers within us.

To finish this interpretation I ask you to reflect on phrase 25:

There is no knowledge, but for work; There is no intuition except for experience.

We can relate this phrase to the positive karma that we must create. In this sense we can say that the good karma we create produces knowledge and intuition.

In the next installment we will present the translation of the second part.
