To the land that you go do what you see ...

Table of contents hide 1 long-range attitudes . 2 much more than just the material. 3 what we think and what we generate 4 openness and mental flexibility ..

This is a very old advice, the grandparents used to recommend especially when they visited or traveled to other places that the place you came to do what you observed.

long-range attitudes .

This is a very valuable practice in regard to respect and generosity, the latter considered a long-range attitude .

But what does it mean to do what we see? Actually we mean not breaking with the continuity of the places and people we visited. For example, if we visit an indigenous community we must know at least in a general way their traditions and customs (this includes gastronomy, clothing, religious beliefs, places or sacred animals).

Of course it seems tired to investigate when we are going to vacation or make a visit, but the reality is that if we see it as an opportunity to grow, to know and enrich ourselves internally this should not mean more effort.

much more than just the material ...

When we talk about generosity we don't just talk about giving material things to the other, for example, when we are patient with our children we are generous, if we respect the time of others we are generous, if we meditate or pray for others we are generous, if we respect customs of others and we can enrich them we are generous.

This is how everything we do, think and say is an opportunity to generate merit or uplifting actions.

If we do not put ourselves in the shoes of others we run the risk of feeling uncomfortable or not included, as it is common we have the habit of blaming others without asking ourselves if it is not possible that we are actually altering the dynamics and even the energy of the place in which we are.

We can observe it more easily when we are in a meeting and there is a family atmosphere, suddenly someone unknown arrives and the dynamics are interrupted a few moments waiting to know at what level to continue. If we act prudently, respectfully with the intention of belonging, we are opening our space and mind ... if on the contrary what we do is act without knowledge and respect for what is happening we run the risk of being rejected or of not being very pleasant .

This is how the wise advice of grandparents acquires meaning, if we want to be valued we must value, if we respect others they will respect us and if we love they will love us because nothing is contrary to what we do, one of the laws of karma is that everything What we do will come back to us in the same sense, if we act with antipathy and arrogance that kind of attitude from others will come to us ... if we act patients we will receive patience in the same way.

what we think and what we generate ...

It is absolutely true that we are what we think… and we are also what we generate, we are responsible for the energy level at which we develop.

As always the advice is to be attentive, attention is a powerful key that allows us to adapt in the best and most productive way. Neglect leads us in the opposite direction, it creates difficulties for us.

If we are angry and in that way we will receive anger as well. If we are kind we will generate kindness. It is true that sometimes this practice arises after several attempts, which is sure to work, it is said that even the hardest trunk ends up yielding to constant winds And so it is that there is nothing that respect and generosity do not achieve in the end.

mental openness and flexibility ..

Thus, wherever we go, we must not miss that attitude of putting ourselves in the shoes of others and learning or unlearning them because the only beneficiaries will be ultimately generating us mental flexibility in our Do, say and think. That's right
